Daffodil Valley selected for COVID-19 test pilot program
Daffodil Valley Elementary will offer a voluntary COVID-19 testing program designed for students who are unvaccinated and identified as a close contact* of an individual at a school or school-related event who tests positive for COVID-19.
Called Test to Stay, this pilot program is designed to reduce learning loss for students exposed to COVID-19 at school. The parent-consent testing program allows unvaccinated students to remain in school as long as they are symptom-free and test negative for COVID-19. Students who participate in the Test to Stay program will test at school the day we are notified of possible exposure and then test one more time 5-7 days from the date of close contact.
Test to Stay, combined with disease-prevention strategies, can help our school detect new cases to prevent outbreaks, reduce the risk of further transmission, and protect students and staff from COVID-19. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and healthy in-person learning environment.
Please read the frequently-asked questions below. If you need more information, contact Daffodil Valley Elementary at DVE@sumnersd.org or (253) 891-4600.
* Defined by the Washington State Department of Health, a close contact is an individual who has spent 15 or more minutes over a 24-hour period within 6 feet of the confirmed case, or within 3 feet in a K-12 indoor classroom setting. Each confirmed case in SBLSD is contact-traced and families are notified if their child is determined to be a close contact.
