Lady Vikings Scrape With The Mustangs
7A
Big game last night against the Mustangs of Marble Falls. Our Lady Vikings came out swinging in the first quarter scoring their most points ever in a quarter with 13. Leading out the gate were Danni Tristan, Ashlynn Evans, Sofia McKinnon, Bennett Buster, and Sadie Peake. We saw incredible pressure on the Mustang offense only allowing them to score 3 points in the first half. Our bench players were a massive shining light showing a fight and will to play keeping defensive pressure on throughout the game. Coming in to stop the ball were Scarlett Wright, Autumn Clements, Eva Navarro and Lillian Kamenzind. There was no let up on the Mustangs as they saw defensive pressure everywhere on the court. The Lady Vikings walk away with a win, finishing with a score of 24 - 5.
7B
In a close and hard-fought game, the Lady Vikings were narrowly defeated by Marble Falls with a final score of 12-15. Our defense was a major strength, with Gracyn Kocak, Evelyn Brown, and Aubrey Alves leading the way with steals. As a team, we created turnovers and were aggressive on that end of the floor, which kept us in the game. We struggled with rebounding. While there were some contributions, especially from Sierra Smith, we’ll need to focus on securing more boards to limit second-chance opportunities for opponents.
Points Scored:
Gracyn Kocak: 4 points – Led the team in scoring with some key baskets.
Evelyn Brown: 4 points, Katy Macias: 2 points, Sierra Smith: 2 points
Rebounds:
Sierra Smith: 2 rebounds – Contributed with some important boards.
Gracyn Kocak, Victoria Porras, Evelyn Brown, Katy Macias: 1 rebound each
Steals:
Gracyn Kocak: 8 steals – Was a defensive standout, disrupting the opposing offense.
Evelyn Brown: 7 steals, Summer Johnston: 5 steals, Aubrey Alves: 5 steals, Victoria Porras: 4 steals, Katy Macias: 4 steals, Liata Keehl: 1 steal
Next game we travel to Salado.
8A
A great effort from the Lady Vikings sees them fall to Marbles Falls in the final minute Wednesday evening 43-48. The girls played with relentless effort throughout the game harassing the Lady Mustangs with their full court press. This led to many scoring opportunities that the Lady Vikings were able to take advantage of. Contributions were made by each member of the team, getting steals, converting lay ups, simply hustling to stop a fast break allowing the rest of the team to get back and defend. All in all it was a great overall effort from all the Lady Vikings last night in defeat to a very strong Marble Falls team.
Points Scored:
16 - Lilah Culbreth, 6 - Aislin Munoz, 5 - Lila Rodriguez, Te’a Turner, 4 - Kinsley Boyd, Emma Luow, 3 - Brinkley Gold

A Teams
8th Grade
The LVMS 8th Grade A put on a dominating performance Wednesday night at Marble Falls. The game started out fast with a handful of transition buckets, including an early one by Levi Castro. The Mustangs came out in a zone but the Vikings were shooting lights out, taking a 16-5 lead after the 1st quarter. In the 2nd, Lago put in a full-court press and defensive dominance by Brody Norris and Cole Schroeder made it tough on the Mustangs to score. Colin Vardaman and Jayden Vargas contributed as the Vikings took a 34-15 lead at halftime. Coming out of the half, Trevor Lane hit an early 3 pointer to set the tone. The pace of the game stayed fast throughout the night as both teams started hitting shots. Marble Falls made a big push in the 4th quarter but couldn’t overcome the deficit. Easton Rice’s 21 points and Ayden Chaffin’s 13 points and 10 rebounds sealed the deal, with Lago Vista coming out on top 52-31, making them 4-0 on the season.
7th grade:
In a high-stakes showdown, the Lago Vista Vikings clashed with the Marble Falls Mustangs in a heart-pounding battle that kept fans on the edge of their seats from start to finish. From the opening tip-off, the Vikings came out strong, racing to an early lead they would never relinquish.
Tate Philphs set the tone with his fearless defense, taking charge after charge, putting his body on the line to protect the paint. His intensity was matched by Jackson Dill and Karter Kudrna, who were everywhere on the floor, disrupting the Mustangs' offense with a relentless barrage of steals. Every possession felt like a battle, and the Vikings were winning the war in every corner of the court.
Despite a few back-and-forth runs from the Mustangs, the Vikings refused to back down. With each steal, each clutch rebound, and each high-pressure moment, they extended their lead. As the game hit its final moments, the Vikings pulled away for a dominant 34-19 victory.
The win was more than just a statement—undefeated on the season and proving that they’re a force to be reckoned with, the Vikings celebrated a well-earned victory. It wasn’t just about the scoreboard; it was about grit, teamwork, and the heart-pounding moments that make basketball so thrilling.

Strive for 5!
In addition to missed learning opportunities, many parents also may not realize that our school's funding from the State is directly tied to daily attendance. Each day your child is present, the school receives about $37. While $37 might not seem significant on its own, it adds up quickly. Last year, the District's funding was reduced by over $700,000 due to student absences. This loss of funds impacts our ability to hire more teachers, reduce class sizes, and further enhance the learning environment for all students.
We appreciate your help in reducing avoidable absences so that your child — and all of our students — can take full advantage of the excellent instruction we offer every day.

Vaping = DAEP
HB 114 makes offenses involving the possession and/or or use of vapes a mandatory DAEP offense. School districts will now be required to place all students who are caught in possession and/or or using vapes (of any kind – not just those with drugs) into their DAEP.
Please share this with your children - it's just not worth it!
