Beaver BRAVO Expectations
Our schoolwide expectations here at Pleasant Valley Primary are:
Be Responsible
Respectful
Always Safe
Value our Community, and be an
On-task Learner
We are here to learn! Be kind! Work hard! Show courage!
Ask your child about the BRAVO pledge that we say every morning on the announcements. It's a great part of the day! If you see your child with Beaver BRAVO tokens or Bus Bucks, this means that they were recognized at school or on the bus for following one or more of our schoolwide expectations. BRAVO, indeed!

Character Strong Update
This month’s focus is Honesty. One way to think about Honesty is “being truthful in what you say and do.” Practicing Honesty helps strengthen our relationships and even reduces stress. Honesty is 1 of 3 traits we will focus on throughout the year that helps students Be Well. Across grade levels, students will be developing skills like emotion regulation, positive self-talk, and stress-management. Check out more resources to talk with your child about honesty.
Attendance Matters!
Your child's attendance at school is vital to their academic success. For tips on helping your student maintain good attendance throughout the winter, read this letter.

Battle Ground Public Schools Information
End-of-semester schedule change
Thank you for your patience during our recent weather-related closures. Please be aware that the week of closures also means that we need to make adjustments to our end-of-semester schedule in order to provide adequate time to meet students’ learning needs.
The early releases scheduled for Jan. 25-26 are postponed by one week to Thursday and Friday, Feb. 1-2. These will be three-hour early release days for all students. Wednesday, Feb. 7, will remain an in-service day for staff with no student attendance. Get more details.
Further information on additional adjustments to the end-of-year schedule will be communicated as soon as possible.
Kindergarten enrollment opens Feb. 12
Children who will turn five years old by Aug. 31, 2024, are eligible to enroll in kindergarten for the 2024-25 school year. Parents/guardians are encouraged to enroll their child as soon as possible to ensure they can participate in key events leading up to the start of kindergarten, including orientation and JumpStart. Starting Feb. 12, get more information on the district website and begin the registration process.
Transitional Kindergarten (pre-kindergarten)
Children who will be four years old by Aug. 31, 2024, may be eligible to attend Transitional Kindergarten in the fall. This free, full-day pre-kindergarten program is offered at five primary school locations, including Captain Strong, Daybreak, Glenwood Heights, Tukes Valley and Yacolt. Families who are interested can fill out an eligibility form through the district website starting Monday, Feb. 12. If accepted, you will be notified by the end of February. More information about the program is available through OSPI.
Feb. 13 capital levy information
Ballots for the Feb. 13 special election should have arrived in mailboxes. Voters living within the boundaries of Battle Ground Public Schools will be asked to consider a three-year capital levy. Check out this video on YouTube to learn more about the capital levy and what it would help to fund.
Here are 10 fast facts about the levy:
1. The capital levy will appear on the Feb. 13 special election ballot.
2. The levy would fund enhanced security measures, including entry controls and security cameras.
3. It would pay for roof repairs and updated heating and cooling systems.
4. It would create additional spaces for hands-on learning in the construction trades, culinary arts and health sciences.
5. It would fund the replacement of outdated technology, including computers, phones and the district’s wireless network.
6. Every school in the district would receive repairs and/or updates as part of the capital levy.
7. Property tax collections for the levy would begin in 2025.
8. The estimated rate would be $0.44 per $1,000 of assessed property value.
9. That amount matches a bond that expired at the end of 2023.
10. The owner of a home worth $500,000 would pay approximately $18.33 a month ($220/yr) for the capital levy - equivalent to the amount paid in 2023.
Please remember to vote by Feb. 13!
Read more about the capital levy and view a proposed list of projects on the district website.
