Lambs Ledger
November 2023
Message from the Principal, Jamie McCarthy
Our goal is to ensure that we are providing a top notch experience for your family. If you are having difficulty, you are always encouraged to reach out to me so we can work together to find a solution. If you are pleased with the experience your family is having, we ask that you leave us a review on Google so that everyone and anyone can learn what Lambs has to offer. We appreciate you taking the time to spread the good news!
November is a month for reflection and giving thanks. Our staff at Lambs is thankful for our families and having the pleasure of serving your children. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your lives!
New Report Card Rubric for K-2
For the 2023-2024 school year, CCSD has updated the Report Card Rubric. Please see the rating scale below. Please know that students are taught standards all year, and they are not expected to master all standards in the first quarter. Because standards have not been fully taught and assessed, students will not have had an opportunity to earn a score of 4 at this time. For first quarter, a score of 2 is acceptable as we are still working toward mastery of the standards.
1: Not yet meeting the grade-level standard and not producing required work
2: Approaching the grade-level standard and producing required work with teacher direction and assistance
3: Meeting the grade-level standard and producing quality work
4: Exceeding the grade-level standard and producing quality work consistently

November Special Areas at Lambs
Physical Education with Coach Wilber-CD/K--we have been working on learning about exercises that help improve our abdominal muscles and learning to roll and bounce a ball with a partner. We have also been working on tagging activities while incorporating fitness into our daily classes. We will start to work on the skills of throwing to a partner and/or rolling a ball to a target.
1st/2nd/3rd--we also have been learning about exercises that strengthen our abdominal muscles and have been working on the underhand roll and toss, as well as using fitness exercises to warm our bodies up properly. We will be moving into throwing and catching type games and learning new invasion games towards the end of the month.
4th/5th--We have completed fitness testing and learned Elbow Tag!! We will be starting throwing and catching teamwork games for the next few weeks while attempting to earn PE choice days. (Classes will have to follow the Lambs Traits in order to earn these days in December).
As always if you have any questions or need further clarifications please don't hesitate to reach out or send a message. Also your child's PE day might have changed with the changing to Quarter #2 so please try and make sure your child has the proper footwear so that they can be successful in PE class!! Let's keep up the good work!!
Music with Ms. Martin-CD will be learning new Thanksgiving songs and continue their
pedagogy on a variety of percussion instruments this month.
Kindergarten is starting our preparation for our PTA Winter Program Thursday, December 7th at 5:00pm. We are so excited! More information will be provided by your child’s
classroom teacher.
First and second graders are also preparing for our PTA Winter Program, December 7th at 5:00pm. We are looking forward to our performance for you! Teachers will be sending more
specific information about your child’s performance.
Third grade is continuing to learn about the recorder and playing basic notes, as we prepare for our field trip to perform with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra in March 2024.
Fourth and Fifth grades continue to expand our musicianship with instrument pedagogy, winter songs, activities about music theory, and the different genres found in music. Also,
congratulations to 4th grade! They did a wonderful performance at the PTA meeting in October!
Library with Ms. Smith-The 2023 Fall Book Fair was a great success! It was so wonderful to see the faces of all the students light up when they walked into the library turned into a bookstore just for them- the excitement to get new books to call their own! We will have our Spring Book Fair in March 2024, so there is another opportunity to add to your home libraries. This month of November will be packed full of lessons in the library focused on tracking reading in Beanstack and introductions to all of the online resources that the students have on their school devices! As always, we will continue checking out books daily and I am excited to receive new books for the Lambs library collection this month or next! Happy Reading!
