Read Across America
Tawanka celebrated Dr. Seuss during Read Across America Week. The kids and staff had a great time dressing as their favorite Dr. Seuss characters, wearing crazy socks, green for the Grinch and wearing their pj's.
We ended our Friday with the entire school reading together and viewing a special Read Across America video from the EarlyAct Club.
The EarlyAct Students created a wonderful video about Read Across America. We were so proud to see their enthusiasm and creativity while they were producing the video. Everyone had a great time watching the video as well. Thank you for doing such a great job!!
Special Performance
Neshaminy Superintendent, Mr. Jones spent a day at Tawanka, visiting with staff and students.
Our in-house band, Level Zero, put on a performance during drop off to welcome Mr. Jones to our school.
Kindergarten
Kindergarten had a visit from The Tooth Buddies! They learned to eat healthy foods and stay away from sticky treats in order to prevent cavities.
Our very special author and illustrator, Mrs. Deeken and Chance presented Chance's story about becoming a therapy dog. Each grade level had their very own presentation. The students were mesmerized with her books and were eager to learn about Chance's life as a therapy dog. Mrs. Deeken also has an ABC book and Little Lou, a book about bullying.
The art room is looking for empty 16 oz plastic water bottles. The bottles must be cleaned and dried. We are also looking for paper towel rolls. Please no toilet paper rolls. Lastly clean colored bottle caps. They can be any size.

Healthy Me Club
Tawanka will be starting the Healthy Me Club for 4th grade students only on Friday, March 22. This is a club to empower 4th graders with the knowledge, skills and the mindset of making healthy choices; physically, socially and emotionally. The goal is to better prepare them for middle school, high school and real world situations.
This program is in conjunction with StandUpNeshaminy and a grant funded through Today Inc.

#StandUp Neshaminy is hosting the Sunset Challenge 5K & 2K running race at Maple Point Middle School on Friday, May 10 at 6:45 pm. Runners, students and families are all encouraged to join this fun competition! The race course is certified and will be electronically timed by RunBucks, LLC.
All pre-registrations include a race t-shirt. Banners will be awarded for the highest participation rate and fastest average times for Neshaminy elementary schools in the 2K race, and middle schools for the 5K race.
With the changing world in which we live, Tawanka has set in place STRICT safety procedures.
All visitors MUST scan their driver's license in the Kiosk when they enter the visitor's door.
