St Thomas' News
30 May 2019
Lord our God,
Father of us all, grant that we may know something of you in our hearts.
Each one of us is different, with our own needs, but we are all your children and should all become children of your Spirit.
Then even in the difficulties of life, in the many struggles, temptation, and sorrows, we can keep up our courage and remain in the Spirit, who is victorious in every aspect of life.
Protect and strengthen us on all our ways.
We praise you for all you have done and for all the help you have given us.
Amen.

FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear St. Thomas' Community,
Cyclical Review: On Monday and Tuesday of this week Catholic Education Office of Western Australia (CEOWA) conducted a Cyclical Review of St. Thomas'. This review consisted of 'looking back' at the educational initiatives, programs and procedures that have been implemented at St. Thomas' over the past three years and a 'looking forward' component with the Leadership Team outlining where we want to head as a school. The panel were extremely impressed with what is happening at St. Thomas. They were particularly impressed with the way the parents, students and staff interviewed articulated what is happening at our school. They commented that St. Thomas' is 'an outstanding school, offering many and varied opportunities for the students'. I am extremely honoured and proud of the results of the review and will share the final report once it has been received. I wish to extend my sincere thanks too everyone who was involved in interviews. I also wish to thank the parents and students of our great school for their support and trust in the educational direction that the staff set and I wish to thank the staff (both past and present) for the considerable time and effort they give to the education of your children.

ST THOMAS' NEWS
Congratulations
Dear St. Thomas' Community,
This week on both Monday and Tuesday our parish school St Thomas the Apostle underwent a Cyclical review by the Catholic Education Office [CEO]. The report to the School Principal, Mr Justin Tuohy was extremely positive and affirming. Praise was offered to the school in many areas, and spoke glowingly of the links between the school and parish and how proud the parents were of the school and staff. Of the wonderful engagement of the children had at the school, the wonderful programs on offer and the many and varied experiences the school offers to the children and parents.
Over the past three years since the last review the school and all the teachers have worked tirelessly to achieve the best for the children and their commitment to this is duly recognised in the results this week. The staff have kept as their central focus the deeds of the children and preparing them for the world they and will live in.
As Parish priest I offer my congratulations to Mr Tuohy, staff and the entire school on this wonderful result, and as we prepare to celebrate the 110th Anniversary of the school we as a parish family which includes the school should be justly proud of what they have achieved. We are very lucky to have our school and should support it as much as we can. I invite you all to join me in congratulating the school community on their justified success this week. 5 stars to the school for all you have done for our children.

TECH TIPS
Digital Technology Guidelines for Parents
Top Tip: Discuss online safety and respectful relationships
Have conversations with your child about how to stay safe online, how to show respectful behaviour and be aware of the pitfalls of the internet, particularly social media applications. Each of these topics is an important issue. This kind of digital exposure can have enormous ramifications on the growth and development of young people, especially when it comes to the quality of their relationships and well-being.
