Testing, Testing, 1-2-3
This week, our 3rd-5th graders began their annual CAASPP testing. They took two separate tests for English Language Arts, one called a Performance Task, and the other called the Computer Adaptive Test. The Performance Task involves writing responses to a reading passage. The Adaptive Test starts off with one question, then if the student gets it correct, the next question becomes more difficult. By the end, the difficulty level of the final question is the way in which the overall score is determined. We were able to successfully complete the ELA testing for 96% of our students this week! The 4% who weren't able to finish (due to absences), will make up the testing next week.
Testing will be each morning throughout the week, so please ensure your student is receiving plenty of rest each night and eating a nutritious breakfast. Our TK-2nd graders will be given the Fountas & Pinnel reading assessment starting on May 16th. This information will show us how much our youngest readers have grown over the course of the year.
Send us your best, we'll do the rest!

Sometimes it's the little voice
at the end of the day
that says
I will try again tomorrow"

This week's Student of the Week is Asher in Ms. Scales and Mr. Catacutan's class! Asher is very responsible and is a role model for his peers. He shows this responsibility by following directions and even doing what needs to be done without even being asked. Asher is a great friend to all his peers. His teachers state that he works really hard to learn and is a genuinely nice kid.
