Davis A&M Family Newsletter
October 18, 2020
Principal's Message
Davis Families,
Our CEO announced last Friday that we will continue with remote learning through the 2nd quarter. The Davis teachers and staff have learned a lot over the first quarter and are prepared to move into the second quarter to continue what I believe to be a strong year. One major change we will be making is to move from Google Classroom to a new system called Schoology. Schoology will allow parents and guardians to easily access their child's grades and assignments, and will allow teachers to more easily include things like instructional videos and additional supports directly into their lessons. Parents will be invited to learn more once the quarter begins. And students will be taught how to use the new platform. However, I think we all agree they will be the fastest to pick up the new technology!
This is the final week of the first quarter. Please check Google Classroom with your child and help them find assignments that have not been handed in yet. These assignments can still be completed, even if they are late.

Did you receive your student's? If not, please call the school! If you did, ask your student how they are doing now in each class. Does it align with their progress report comments? Do they know how to improve their grades and attend office hours? There are only 5 days left in the quarter!

From Mr. Markusic, our College Now Advisor
One of the most important things for seniors to do is to fill out the FAFSA. The FAFSA is a form that you and your student fill out to determine whether your student is eligible for any financial aid from the government. You must submit your FAFSA to receive any money for after high school, and it is a required step for receiving the Say Yes to Education Scholarship.
College Now is hosting several events on financial aid, college admissions testing, and applying to college. These events are full of really great information, and we strongly encourage you to attend whatever events you can with your student!
If you or your student have any questions, contact by email: mmarkusic@collegenowgc.org)or by phone (216-507-1768).

A Word from CMSD: Graduation rate reaches new record high
CMSD’s four-year graduation rate has reached 80.1 percent, yet another in a series of record highs for the District.
The graduation rate appeared on the District’s new state report card, which was released Sept. 15. Graduation data lags a year behind other report card measurements, so it is for the Class of 2019.
CMSD’s graduation rate has ranked among the fastest growing in the state. The rate has soared 27.9 points since 2011, the year before The Cleveland Plan, a customized blueprint for education reform in the city, took effect.
