School Vision:
George Cromwell Elementary School is a place of learning. At our school, teachers, staff, and parents work collaboratively to develop lifelong learners. Our teachers strive to ensure that ALL students are actively engaged in the learning process to foster independence, perseverance, and confidence to lead each student to reach their full potential.

Comprehensive Needs Assessment-Needs, Goals, and Strategies
Need
In grades K-5, 56% of our students are not meeting grade level expectations in reading based on Fountas and Pinnell levels from spring of 2022-2023.
Goals
Schoolwide Goal:
70% of students in grades 1-5 will meet or exceed their typical growth/annual growth based on the I ready diagnostic assessment.
Focused Goals:
Grades 3-5
Decrease the number of students who score below grade level in phonics on the I ready diagnostic from 28% to 14%.
Strategies
Place students in appropriate literacy interventions.
Teacher training on student engagement/ participation, strategies for enhancing decoding and comprehension instruction in the classroom and specialized instruction strategies for students with disabilities.
Extended day after school program for students in grade 2 focusing on foundational literacy skills.
Co-teaching with special education teachers and general education teachers.
Professional development with Shauna King: Brain Friendly Engagement & Motivation Strategies and Inside the Developing Brain.
Need
In K-5, 55% of students are one or more grade levels behind based on the spring i-Ready diagnostic.
Goals
Schoolwide Goal:
50% of students in grades K-5 will meet or exceed their typical growth/annual growth based on the I ready diagnostic assessment.
Focused Goal:
Grade 2:
60% of students in grade 2 will meet or exceed their typical growth based on the I ready diagnostic assessment.
TSI-SWD (General Education setting)
50% of students will meet or exceed grade level expectations based on the I ready diagnostic assessment.
Strategies
Teacher training on the new math curriculum Reveal, student engagement/ participation, and instructing students with disabilities in the classroom.
Place students in appropriate math interventions.
Co-teaching with special education teachers and general education teachers.

Need
Of the students in grades K-5, 37% of those students are considered chronically absent.
Goals
Schoolwide Goal:
Increase the percentage of students who are not chronically absent from 64.79% (22-23 school year) to 68.31% for the 23-24 school year.
Focused Goals:
TSI-SWD
Increase the percentage of students with disabilities who are not chronically absent from 48.61% (22-23 school year) to 53.75% in the 23-24 school year.
Strategies
Teacher training on student engagement/ participation.
Personalized outreach for select students and families.
Concentric partnership; and attendance mentoring groups.
Pre-K to K Transition Support
Do you have an incoming Kindergarten student or know someone who does? We will be holding workshops for families throughout the school year to help with the transition to Kindergarten. Please see the list of workshops below.

Parent and Family Engagement
Join us throughout the school year as we continue to provide strategies and materials to support learning at home. Dinner/snacks and child care will be provided at all evening workshops. An interpreter will also be available at all workshops.

Communication

- Weekly Newsletter-Mrs. Morgan will send out a weekly newsletter via ConnectEd message. Important information and events are posted in the newsletter so please be sure to check it weekly.
- Parent workshop information can be found in the weekly newsletter, paper fliers will also be sent home with each student.
- All documents will be sent home in English & Spanish. If needed, we will send home in any other language a family requests.
Parent Advisory Committee
We are looking for families to serve as part of our Parent Advisory Committee. What does this mean? This committee meets four times a year to discuss how we can continue to be equal partners in your students' education. Please see below for the topics that we will cover during our four meetings this school year.
