Reminders
PERSONAL HANDHELD ELECTRONIC DEVICES - CELL PHONES
Personal electronic devices, including cell phones and earbuds, are not allowed at AMS. Knowing that students and parents use cell phones for before and after school safety, we know students will have them at school. They need to be in student lockers at all times. If you need to reach your student, please call the school at 333-6655, and we will connect you with your student.
CELL PHONES and Ear Buds: We know students will have them so please follow these simple rules.
- Electronic devices MUST be kept in a student’s LOCKER during the school day (7:15 am - 2:00 pm).
- Students can only access their cell phones once the walkers get released.
- Teachers may allow a student to check their phones if they ask permission.
- Any VISIBLE cell phone will be collected and kept in a secure location in the office until the end of the school day.
- Students are responsible for picking up phones at dismissal.
STUDENT DRESS CODE
The School Committee recognizes that responsibility for the dress and appearance of students rests with individual students and their parent(s)/guardian(s). The School Committee will not interfere with this right unless students' personal choices disrupt the school program or affect the health or safety of others.
Dress Code Guidelines: as determined by the administration for Auburn Middle School, developed to support the educational process:
- Appropriate clothing should cover the entire torso. Exposed undergarments are considered inappropriate for school.
- Safe and suitable footwear should be worn at all times.
- Hats and hoods cannot be worn in the building except for religious or ethnic head coverings. Students will be asked to remove hoods, and hats will be kept in the office until the end of the school day.
Students breaking the dress code may be asked to cover, change, or call home for a change of clothes. Continual dress code infractions will result in disciplinary actions ranging from detention to suspension.
UPDATES
We need your help:
Our clothes closet is in need of hats, golves/ mittens and boots. We are also in great need of sweatpants, especially for boys, and in all sizes. If you have any of these items that have been outgrown in your house please consider dropping them off at AMS.
Students After School Supporting our Teams
We are happy to have students support each other at AMS sporting events. It is important that students conduct themselves according to our CORE values (Respectful, Responsible, Safe). Any student who does not exhibit expected behaviors will be asked to leave the event.
Auburn Middle Schools Backpack Program
Our aim is to close the gap in meals for our students between Friday lunch and Monday breakfast by providing food bags over weekends as well as longer breaks during the school year. AMS works with a local business and food bank to help fill this need.
The Friday distribution of food bags is handled in many different ways. We can drop off the bags at the classroom to be picked up by the student, call students down anonymously to the social workers office or be quietly dismissed early to pick up food from a specific location.
Team Achieve runs the Falcon Outlet at Auburn Middle School. It is on the first floor next to the STEM classroom. We have food shelves that can offer relief to hungry students during the school day and students can also shop for sweatshirts, pants, shirts at no cost.
Please click on the link below if your family would like support from the Falcon Outlet. Your response will be confidential and sent to our school social worker, Katherine Kaufmann. CLICK ME

Safety is our first priority. This is why we have high expectations for student behaviors. It is why we train to evacuate and we train for intruders. Every staff member has multiple ways to access administration and are capable of making emergency calls as needed.
All the doors are locked all the time, external and internal
Hard wired phones in each room
Cameras that are observed
Secure front entrance
Badged staff
Practice safety measures
Staff members every 10 feet in the building
We do not have unannounced visitors
Bates mentors are trained and have background checks
Staff have multiple communication devices to contact others for immediate assistance
