It has certainly been a fun week this week. Having Halloween early in the week kicked off the excitement; seeing all the book characters was such fun. Waking up to the cool temperatures energized everyone enough to finish the week strong. I was also reminded that the clocks fall back this weekend.

This upcoming Tuesday, students will be at home due to Election Day. Teachers will be sending out information for the student tasks for the day so be on the lookout for that email soon. I recently received notice that Northwood will again serve as a polling place.

With the arrival of the month of November, it’s time to get excited about the upcoming Northwood Thanksgiving Feast. The invitation graphic is below, and the RSVP form is linked at the bottom of the email. You can print the RSVP form from the BEST or look for the hard copy in backpacks this afternoon. Please make sure to return the RSVP to each child’s homeroom teacher so the cafeteria staff can properly plan the meals each day. We look forward to seeing families on November 15th and/or November 16th.

The Northwood SGC had a wonderful meeting this past Wednesday with most of the time centered on ways Northwood can encourage, celebrate, and ultimately continue to instill a love of reading for our children. The team had some great ideas and we’re excited about ways the team can ignite curiosity and joy found while reading.

Second Grade had SO much fun during the Book Character Parade! We saw some amazing costumes, and loved seeing the excitement our students had for celebrating characters from various books. The creativity and effort put into outfits was INCREDIBLE! Thank you for all of your help with making this such an incredible experience for our Second Graders.

Third Grade Pollution Solution: We went to the science lab to complete a pollution activity. Rivers are a vital water source, home to wildlife, a means of transportation, and more. As the numbers and sizes of our communities have increased over time, the health of our rivers has suffered. Sewage, agricultural runoff, and industrial wastes are just some of the pollutants that find their way into our rivers. This activity demonstrated that, just as we each contribute to the problem, we must also be part of the solution!

Ms. Kaye will work with our students in AVID to complete another hands-on learning opportunity. Our 3rd graders will make our world a better place!

All Pro Dads Breakfast - Friday November 10th (7:10 - 7:40 am)

Our theme for the month is 'Contentment' and we will also be collecting items for the North Fulton Charities food bank https://nfcchelp.org/food-bank/. Please bring cans and other items to the breakfast or drop them off before or after.

November 11th is Veteran’s Day, and we are having a performance to celebrate. We would like to invite you to post photos of your loved ones who served in the armed forces. Whether they are currently serving, have retired, or have passed on, we want to see and celebrate their bravery, sacrifice, and commitment to our country. These photos will be presented in a slideshow during the 3rd grade Veteran’s Day performance on November 9th and 10th. Please follow the link to share your photos with us. The Art to Remember fundraiser is happening now at Northwood! You will have the opportunity to purchase a variety of products featuring your child’s artwork like magnets, mugs, keychains, and more! There are over 60 products and many are less than $15. These make great gifts and a percentage of every purchase goes right back to our school. Be on the lookout for an order form and artwork sent home with your child or click on this link to search for your child's artwork. The deadline to place orders is November 3rd. Fall Picture Retake Day is November 13th. If you are not happy with your Explorer's portraits simply have your student return their original picture package to the photographer on retake day and they will replace the set at no additional cost.

Find grades, attendance, assignments, schedules, ID numbers, school announcements and more. If you haven't already joined, please do so today as Fulton County Schools is transitioning to managing everything via the portal.

Parents, please encourage your students to check regularly for lost items in the Lost and Found. Please mark all student belongings clearly with the child’s name so that it can be identified. Unclaimed items are donated to local charities after the last school day of every month. November’s date is Thursday, November 30th.

Did you know that Haynes Bridge Middle School has been serving the Alpharetta Community for 40 years? Our school was established in 1983 as the first 6-8 middle school for this community. Reflections is a program that provides an opportunity for students to use their creative talents by expressing themselves through their own original works once provided with a custom theme. This year's theme is "I am hopeful because." The excitement and enthusiasm that the program generates for students, parents, schools and communities is unmatched with the majority of Georgia PTAs participating in the program at all PTA levels.

That’s why the Reflections Program provides an excellent opportunity for students of all ages to:
