Ross Round Up
Engage. Empower. Educate. Every Day.
January 5, 2023
Hi Ross Families.
This month, we are focused on student growth in Math, Reading, and Leadership. We are working hard in all of these areas to make sure that every student is becoming their best self as a learner and leader.
Our value for January is Leadership. Here's some of the Leadership activities we have planned for January:
- All students have set a Math and Reading goal that means something to them. They will be reviewing and tracking these goals regularly. After the Benchmark testing this month, they will evaluate how their goals are going and report back to you, their parent, with their progress in learning. It's great to see them take ownership of their learning and a big part of why we love AVID at Ross. Ask your student what their Math, Reading, and Leadership goals are.
- On Tuesday, Principal Tripp with help from Mrs. Rose and CAST leaders will go to every classroom to help students set Leadership goals. We're going to see some great things from students as they achieve their goals and share their stories on a YouTube video at the end of the month.
- Tuesday night, CAST leaders are presenting at the Kuna School Board meeting to help board members set leadership goals and to tell them about the student-planned leadership activities coming up this month.
- CAST students are planning Leadership activities for all students to participate in. One of those is a walking field trip to Indian Creek on Jan. 30 to read to younger students. It will be so fun to see 250 4th and 5th graders join Indian Creek students in reading and coloring to honor President's Day.
- Some of our students--Atasha, Korver, Nora, and Zander--are showing leadership by preparing to speak about how the AVID strategy of focused note taking has helped them grow in Math! We can't wait to see their presentation at our showcase in February, along with other featured students yet to be determined.
How do you help your children build leadership skills? Share your stories with Mrs. Tripp to be featured in Facebook posts and/or YouTube videos this month. We'd love to hear what you do at home with kids to make a difference in the world!
Part of leadership is giving meaningful feedback, both positive and constructive. Let us know how we're doing anytime by reaching out to teachers, to Mrs. Tripp, or to the office. We love partnering with you in making Ross the best it can be for the students we share and love.
Love,
Principal Tripp

After School Pick Up Notes
Our goal for pick up is to get kids safely off campus and to families at the end of the day. Thanks for helping us keep kids safe!
Here's the timeline for end of day:
- 3:30 pm: The pick up bell rings for students being picked up in the car line. We release those students 5 minutes earlier than the walkers or pick ups on the road for safety reasons--we want to have most of the cars through the line before walkers are trying to navigate cars as they walk near the road.
- 3:35 pm: The walker and bus line bell rings for those who are walking to their cars not in the pick up line and those who are riding the bus.
Please call the office to let us know if your student is going home a different way than usual by 2:00 pm. We will deliver a note to them before the end of the day to let them and the teacher know.
