Principal's Message
Greetings Springwater Students and Families,
Last night we welcomed Springwater's Class of 2026: our new incoming 9th graders! Our student ambassadors greeted the Class of 2026 and their families, showed them classrooms, discussed our different classes and teachers, and answered their questions. Our ambassadors did a wonderful job of welcoming our newest Titans! They also put in an incredibly long day -- almost 12 hours in the school yesterday!
Next week an independent consulting firm with the GBSD School Resource Officer Outreach and Review Process will be visiting a few STHS classes as part of their student listening sessions. Students in Leadership and some of our Social Studies classes will have the opportunity to share their thoughts and ideas to improve and enhance the program. While Springwater does not have a School Resource Officer, the district wants to gather student feedback from all three high schools.
In two weeks we have our all school field trip to Dabney State Park. On Friday, May 20th the entire school will travel to Dabney to complete habitat restoration projects in the morning followed by a barbecue and fun activities in the afternoon. We are super excited to return to this wonderful annual Springwater tradition. If you haven't already completed the permission form, please complete and return it as soon as possible (the link is in this newsletter). Please contact the front office if you have questions.
The countdown continues: just six weeks until the end of the school year! I appreciate the hard work and perseverance I am seeing from students: each day, each class period. Hang in there everyone! Summer is right around the corner.
Take care and have a good weekend!

May Spotlight Students
Cote Reid
Grade: 9
Interests: I mostly play video games after school. I don’t really do much. I like to play puzzle or strategy games.
Favorite subject in school: I don’t want to be rude to any teachers. I can’t pick. They’re all equally enjoyable.
Favorite thing about STHS: The fact it is a smaller school and people are a lot more open about stuff, like sexuality. People are a lot more nice and open here.
Thomas Wintjen
Grade: 10
Interests: Reading radical literature, reading philosophy, playing video games, puzzle games, hanging out with friends after school, going on walks, movies, escape rooms
Favorite subject in school: English or Creative Writing. I like Creative Writing. It’s nice. I get to explore my imagination a lot. I like English because I think language is something that is really interesting, although I have some “takes” about language.
Favorite thing about STHS: Probably the queer inclusivity. Although I have a few small issues with it. Nothing negative, but ‘this’ could be worked on, bring the spotlight to ‘this’, stuff like that.
Andrea Martinez
Grade: 11
Interests: I like hiking, painting, walking my dogs, rock climbing (something I’ve been into recently), and just being outside and hanging out with friends.
Favorite subject in school: Art. I’ve always been interested in art and it’s the only subject that I’ve really liked since I was a little kid. I like that, in art class, she gives us many opportunities to try different things, like sculpting, painting, and tie-dying.
Favorite thing about STHS: I like that it’s a small school and that, if you really need help, the teachers can focus a little bit more on you since they don’t have so many kids to worry about. They’re very helpful.
