Principal Letter
Dear NRE Community,
Let me first start by saying THANK YOU for passing 5A!!! This is a HUGE relief for me as a principal for keeping staff and hiring staff! I cannot thank you enough for voting for this, for advocating for this, and for talking about this with your neighbors. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Our staff is very excited to have a raise that is long overdue and we are very grateful.
We had students that were grateful for their experiences in the classrooms this week as well. One kindergartener proposed to the Mandarin teacher and said that he would share all of his toys with her once they were married! As you know this is a big deal for a kindergartener to share their toys and it was the purest of interactions. It's these little things that mean so much to us as educators and tell the story of how what a difference we are making. If you want to celebrate a staff member, it's not too late! Sunday, November 12 is the last day to nominate a staff member for the 2024 Apple Awards. Please click here to nominate a staff member.
We hope you will join us on Friday for our Thanksgiving Meal. Due to free breakfasts and lunches for students, we will not be able to provide lunches to visitors on Friday but we would still love for you to join us if it works in your schedule. If you plan to stop by, please either bring your lunch with you or just come to join your child for lunch but don't eat. Our staff is working really hard to keep up with our students for our lunches and we sincerely apologize that we cannot serve you too, but we are simply over capacity as it is and doing our best to keep up with the demands.
Today we celebrated our men and women who have served, have given their lives, and are serving our country. We celebrated Veterans Day and it was a wonderful celebration! We had the flag ceremony presented by our boy and girl scouts, our 5th graders sang beautiful songs, and I'm fairly certain there was not a dry eye in the gym. I had a hard time getting my wits about me afterwards because I seem to have found a frog in my throat. I'm beyond thankful for the families with all the sleepless nights and all the unknowns for soldiers. I'm thankful we still have people signing up to go fight wars so we can be safe back here in the U.S.A. Hug one another this weekend and take time to reflect on our simply freedoms that I know I take for granted on a daily basis.
Be Well.
Katie
P.S. More pictures of Veterans Day to come next week.
