Elementary Update
Elementary students kindergarten through 6th grade enjoy free breakfast and lunch, however, if they get a milk along with their cold lunch, or get seconds on their main entree, there will be a charge to their lunch accounts. 50 cents for milk, and $1 for seconds.
Please fill out the Bites2Go application (attached here) if you would like for your kids to participate in this program that helps them out with food supplements over weekends. We will be starting distribution today. Kids can pop into the school office for a bag of food for this weekend, and we will be happy to send them home with an application to ensure that they receive the food for future weekends.
Gaga Ball
The Gaga Pit has arrived on the back playground. Gaga Ball is a fast paced game where 15 players enter the pit and try to get the other players out by throwing the ball below the knee. Ask your 3rd-6th grader for more information.

Middle School Update - Debi Newsum
During the month of September all students in our district are focusing on the character trait of respect. In middle school we are using homeroom time to discuss our school’s expectations and the Three Rs of Reardan: Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Learn. This is part of our PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports) program. At the end of the month, all students who have demonstrated RESPECT by not having a major behavior violation will be attending a special talk with a guest speaker and enjoying Italian Sodas provided by the MS ASB. Contact Ms. Vesneske at tvesneske@reardansd.net if you would like to volunteer to help with ASB activities or provide snacks/treats to use as PBIS rewards. Thank you!
Students have been busy this week in science classes. Mrs. Vesneske’s science classes will all be participating in Lab Thursdays. Each Thursday they will be doing a hands on science lab with a focus on the scientific method AND using complete sentences and punctuation in their lab write ups. This week students are building prototypes of bicycle helmets and testing them with eggs dropped from a height of four feet. Remember to ask your students each Thursday what their lab was all about! In the 8th grade STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) class students are learning about physics by creating and launching rockets.
And. . . drum roll please. . . our district has installed a Gaga Ball pit on the 3-8 playground and it is the new hit at MS recess. Students are watching a demonstration video on Monday to review the rules and expectations, but today we practiced technique. Shout out to Elementary PE teacher Brian Graham for bringing this new activity to our students!
