RAPTOR REPORT
March 1, 2024
Happy Friday Raptors,
We hope you have had a great week.
Our Winter Formal last Friday was FANTASTIC! Huge thanks to the RHS Booster Club for planning such a fun event.
We kicked off spring sports season with practice this week. If you are interested, there is still time to sign up. Spring sports include track and field, tennis, and golf. We are excited to cheer on our Raptors this spring.
We concluded the week by hosting a visit from prospective Meridian Creek, Three Rivers, and Wood Middle School students. We had a great turnout, and it was wonderful to see future Raptors! We will host visits from Athey and Rosemont middle schools in early April.
We hope you have a great weekend, and we will see you all on Monday!

NHS and NTHS
Sophomores - it is time to apply for the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society. NHS and NTHS are organizations that honor student achievement, leadership, service, and character. We are starting chapters at Riverside! Eligible students (with a cumulative GPA of 3.0) will be invited via letter to apply. Parents and families of those students will be notified next week. Students can get applications from Ms. Abrams or Mr. Holt, and completed applications are due March 22nd. A faculty panel will determine whether to admit students who apply based on the criteria for NHS/NTHS. This is an amazing opportunity for recognition and participation in service projects.
Drama Production Rehearsals
Rehearsals for our Spring Drama Production, Agatha Rex, will begin next week on March 6th at 3:15. Performances will be May 29, 30 and 31.
Agatha Rex is a play adapted by Lindsay Price from Antigone by Sophocles.
"Agatha is a girl who stands up for her beliefs, regardless of the consequences. As student council president at Thebes High, she vigorously defends a student who is unfairly punished. Based on her actions, she could be expelled and lose an important scholarship."
Disc Golf Club
The first meeting of the Riverside Disc Golf Club will be after school on Tuesday March 4th. Please meet in Mr. Valentine's room (228) after school for those interested in playing. Discs will be provided.

We are hosting RHS Tennis, Track, and Golf teams (both boys and girls for each).
Winter Formal = Huge Success
The Riverside High School Booster Club sponsored our community's first ever winter formal dance last Saturday evening, Feb. 24th at RHS. The buzz from students, staff and parents has been energetically enthusiastic, and we are so glad our students had a blast. Ticket sales went well and in the end, we had about 40 students attend the dance in the student center. The space was beautifully decorated, and the students looked SHARP! We look forward to building on this success with future events for our student community. RHS parent Janae Zolna did a phenomenal job heading up the decorating team. Mike Mitchell and Carey Wilhelm really went the extra mile as staff organizers and chaperones. Nic Chapin, Jen Cerasin, and Tyler Wheelan gave us their Saturday night as chaperones and we are grateful for you. Finally, special ginormous thank yous to the following Booster members who donated time, money, energy and heart to make this happen: Autumn Paul, Becky and Terry Galbreath, Alysia Laurer, Toni Cacciatore, and Julia McBride. Go Raptors!
Paraeducator Position Opening
We have the opportunity to hire a paraeducator to support students and the work we are doing at Riverside High School. If you have ever wondered if working in a school is for you, now might be the time to find out! For more information, see the district posting for this position. If you know of someone who might be interested, please pass along the information!
