We celebrated the qualities of citizenship and having a "Think Win-Win" mindset at our Leadership Social this week! Recognizing and reinforcing positive qualities in students is always a great way to promote a culture of respect, collaboration, and community engagement.

Highlighting qualities like citizenship encourages students to be responsible and active members of their community, fostering a sense of social responsibility. Additionally, promoting a "Think Win-Win" mindset encourages students to seek mutually beneficial solutions, promoting cooperation and positive relationships.

We also welcomed our High School Got Character Kids during our Leadership Social, who help provide a positive role model for our young students.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of our veterans who joined us for our Veterans Day assembly and social. Your presence not only enriched the event but also demonstrated a collective commitment to honoring and appreciating our veterans. Your attendance made a significant impact, reinforcing the importance of acknowledging and honoring the sacrifices made by our veterans. Thank you!

Platte County School District is conducting its parent survey to gather feedback on strengths of the District, as well as areas to consider for growth. Your input is important and will be considered when making future decisions.

Instead of a full parent survey conducted once in the fall of each year, we will be dividing our survey into cycles and asking for your feedback more often.

• For this first cycle, you'll start with up to 20 quick parent survey questions regarding your student's academics, special services, and sense of belonging.
• Then you'll be asked to share feedback (thoughts) on these specific topics (academics, special services, and sense of belonging). The next cycle will focus on other topics.

During Parent/Teacher conferences, we will encourage parents to take this survey. You can complete the survey by clicking on the link below or using the QR code. Thank you in advance for your feedback!

Partnering with Hillcrest and Nodaway Valley Bank, the Platte County High School FBLA program will be hosting a district-wide Toiletry Drive competition, starting on November 13th. Students will collect and turn in toiletry items to their teacher. The elementary class that gains the most points by donating FULL-SIZED toiletry items will receive a PIZZA PARTY in early December. The Toiletry Drive will be held from the 13th to the 21st, which will give you plenty of time to collect a huge load of toiletries!

School Messenger is our automated phone calling and text notification system. We use this system to notify parents quickly for sudden changes in schedules due to emergencies, school cancellations, or just important school announcements.

If you aren't receiving the District's text reminders and notifications and would like to opt in to receive these, simply text "YES" to 67587. Standard text messaging rates apply.

As a reminder, PCR-3 will implement traditional inclement weather days (no school and no virtual learning), until we reach a threshold that would push the school year past Memorial Day. We will make those days up per our academic calendar, and if we go past our planned make up days for inclement weather, we will implement our Inclement Weather Virtual Learning Days.

Safety is one of our district’s top priorities, and to help safeguard our school community, our District uses Safe Schools Alert, a tip reporting service by Vector Solutions, that allows students, staff, and parents to submit safety concerns to our administration.

You and your child can easily report tips on bullying, harassment, or any safety issue you're concerned about through this online reporting system. On the homepage of the District website (www.plattecountyschooldistrict.com) and on each school building's homepage there is a Safe Schools quicklink which links to the reporting tool. Every tip Vector Solutions receives about our District is immediately logged in the system and our administration is notified so that they can investigate and take appropriate action. Tips may also be submitted anonymously if you prefer. Together, we can make our District a safer place to learn.

Below is a link to the Sign Up Genius if you wish to eat lunch with your child. Please keep in mind that there will only be 2 slots available per grade level due to space and seating available. If you are coming for lunch, you may bring in outside food for your child but we ask that you not share that food with any students other than your own. We are excited to have our families in for lunch!

Pirates R.O.C.K. (Raising Outstanding Character Kids) is a program designed to surround our families with examples of strong character traits through school experiences, at home, and reinforced in their community. Each month our community focuses on a specific character trait and students are recognized for exhibiting these traits: Self Confidence, Pride, Responsibility, Citizenship, Compassion, Individuality, Self Control, Integrity, Perseverance, Respect, Honesty, and Cooperation.

For the 2023-24 school year, both Pathfinder and Barry will be supported by one PTA that is made up of members from both schools! PTA would love your support in this organization which provides experiences directly related to kids: field trips, leadership shirts, classroom parties and more!

We are doing a final push over the weekend to get as many families enrolled in our PTA as possible. PTA is a great way to support Barry Elementary students. Please consider joining TODAY!!!
