WMES PTA
The PTA Reflections Program is a national arts recognition and achievement program sponsored by the Parent Teacher Association (PTA). The program encourages students of all ages and abilities to explore and be involved in the arts. It was established in 1969 by the National PTA and has since become one of the largest student arts recognition programs in the United States.
The main goal of the PTA Reflections Program is to promote creativity and self-expression among students. It invites them to create works of art in various categories, including:
1. Literature: Students can submit poems, essays, stories, or other written pieces.
2. Visual Arts: This category covers a wide range of visual arts, such as drawing, painting, photography, and sculpture.
3. Dance Choreography: Students can create and perform original dance routines.
4. Music Composition: This category encourages students to compose and perform their own music compositions.
5. Photography: Students can submit original photographs they have taken.
Each year, the program establishes a theme that serves as the inspiration for the entries. This year's theme is "I am Hopeful Because..." Students create their artworks based on their interpretation of this theme. The entries are then judged at the local, state, and national levels, with awards and recognition given to outstanding submissions. The program not only promotes artistic expression but also encourages students to think critically and creatively.
Participating in the PTA Reflections Program can be a rewarding experience for students as it allows them to showcase their artistic talents and receive recognition for their creativity. Please encourage your children to enter.
* We would like to inform everyone that the Reflections Program Due date scheduled for October 6th will be postponed to October 13th. Please mark your calendars for the new date, and we look forward to your participation.
