Educators in Northeast Tennessee came together for a professional development day with the theme of "Learning Together – One Region, One Purpose, Every Child." This kind of collaborative effort can have a significant positive impact on the education system. Subject-specific discussions allow educators to focus on the best practices and strategies that are most relevant to their teaching areas. This can lead to the exchange of innovative teaching methods and a deeper understanding of subject matter. With nearly 200 presenters covering various subjects, educators have the opportunity to learn from experts in their respective fields. This diversity of expertise can help in the development of well-rounded and effective teaching methods. ECS participated by hosting two sites TA Dugger & EHS.

The Tennessee Investment in Student Achievement (TISA) public school funding formula marks a significant change in how Tennessee invests in public education. The TISA funding formula updates the way Tennessee funds public education for the first time in over 30 years to empower each student to read proficiently by third grade, prepare each high school graduate for post-secondary success, and provide resources needed for all students to ensure they succeed.

Each district's TISA accountability report is required to be presented to the public for review and comment before the report is submitted to the department. The report must be submitted annually to the department by November 1st.

Attached is the 2023-2024 TISA Accountability Report for Elizabethton City Schools. If you have any comments or questions regarding this report, those may be shared at the October 19th Elizabethton City Schools Board of Education meeting. The meeting will occur at 5:30 pm in the Mack Pierce Board Room at 804 South Watauga Avenue, Elizabethton Tennessee 37643.

Thank you to the ECS Maintenance Staff for dressing up for the children at each schools. They have enjoyed the character sightings.

The students in Ms Susan’s class enjoyed a day of mouse painting activity to go along with the story, Mouse Paint by Ellen Stoll Walsh.

Mrs. Fox’s class just finished their Unit 2 CKLA knowledge unit on the 6 body systems. The culminating activity at the end was so much fun! The kids dressed like doctors, played operation, put the organs in order on a body apron, used a human body model puzzle and placed everything in order ( muscles, bones, and respiratory systems). They also drew their organs and veins on a life sized paper body model.

We appreciate the Betsy Book Bus visiting HME ! All students received a free book to prepare for a system wide reading initiative beginning soon. #betsybookbus

West Side’s annual release of the butterflies with Miss Vera. This is such a special tradition for everyone.

Our second grade students have been learning about Ancient Greek Civilization and Greek Myths. Friday, they dressed like Greeks and took a virtual field trip to the Nashville Parthenon. They also dined at Mad Greek restaurant for Greek cuisine.

Congratulations to the Wildcat Runners. The girls came in second place and the boys third place at the Elementary School Regional Qualifying for the State Championship in Memphis. Both boys and girls teams qualified for the State meet.

***For these payments students need to bring check or cash to the auditorium stage before school and give it to Mrs. Ingram, who will be seated up there. Please make checks payable to T. A. Dugger and put your student’s name in the memo.

***If your student is absent on the due date, they can bring cash or check to Mrs. Ingram in her office (across from the main office) the next day during the school day.

***Collection for 1st payment of Washington D.C. trip is due tomorrow. The collection will take place on the auditorium stage beginning at 7am. Students will need to turn in permission slips at this time.

. “Hello I'm Hannah Escano! I am a junior who is heavily involved with the school, SGA, Women's Ensemble, Clone Club, and Key Club. Outside of school I am a part of my Church's youth group and Watts Dance Studio. I am in Watts Dance Studio's showcase, so more likely you have seen me dance at the Covered Bridge or at a halftime show during an EHS basketball game. I enjoy reading, hanging out with my friends, and traveling with my family. I have participated in Key Club events such as Trunk or Treat or more recently going to the elementary schools and reading to the kindergarteners. I am grateful for the guidance of my teachers and I can't wait to see what's ahead!"

Elizabethton FFA students participated in the Watauga District Forestry Evaluation Event.

Our regular season has come to a close! We had senior night at our home course, Elizabethton Golf Club ! Dalton Sharp led the men's team and Maylie Stout and Sophia McKeehan tied leading the lady's team! Great season with our seniors Ashlynn Guy, Dalton Sharp, Mac Paulson, Madison Holly and Maylie Stout! Next week is the District Tournament at Pine Oaks golf course! Good luck and Go Cyclone Golf!!!!
