Good Morning River Hawk Families,

While the weather is still all over the place, it is looking like spring has finally sprung and the rain is providing beautiful green hills with our blooming flowers, trees, and bushes this year! With that, doctors are warning that this could be a rough allergy season. Please be sure if there are medications your child needs at school that you speak with our health technician, Ms. Hubbell or email her at: sahubbell@hartdistrict.org She can also provide you with any necessary forms to complete. Please remember that California Law requires this for over the counter medications that need to be taken at school, in addition to prescription medications.

Remember this week brings Open House on Thursday, April 20th and we are excited to welcome our families onto campus. Thursday is a minimum day with dismissal at 12:05 p.m., so teachers can prepare their rooms. Our festivities will begin at 6:00 p.m. on the Outdoor Stage with class visitations from 6:15 - 7:30 p.m. We hope your student can come show you around their classes!

If your 7th grader is interested in a specialty elective for 8th grade, the deadline is THIS FRIDAY, April 21st. Be sure your application is in prior to the deadline, as no exceptions will be made. Our care line has been rebranded to CARE Text. This simply adds a phone number for easy texting of concerns on-campus or about Rio Norte students. The email also still exits to offer two convenient options to students. Please talk with your student over break and if they have a phone make sure they put the number into their phone, under Rio Norte Care Text, so they don't have to find it when they need it. Students can confidentially text or email any concerns they have about the safety of students and/or the school. Students should be reminded to say something, if they see something. Please note that their message will always be returned if it went through. While the response is typically fairly quick, it can occasionally take a few hours to be seen. After hours and weekends we cannot guarantee it will be seen until the next business day. If someone is in imminent danger a student should talk to a trusted adult to determine if 911 or the Sheriff Department should be called. It's a good idea to have your student program the local Sheriff Department number into their phone, too (661-260-4000). The hope is they'll never need it, but if they do, it's handy!

On April 28th, College of the Canyons will host the Santa Clarita Valley Job Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. Visit MySCVJobFair.com for more information and see the downloadable PDF below.
