Reminder! Jan. 16 & 17 are NO SCHOOL DAYS!
Caine Monroy Cardboard Challenge
Every class was given the challenge to create a game that promotes engagement from other people and has a message to the world. The students are in teams and they will be sharing their project to Caine Monroy, a mentor for the maker mindset and Business Administration College student at CSU, Dominquez Hills, on Wednesday and Thursday. When Caine was 8 years old, he became a cardboard challenge phenomenon and inspired educators nationwide to engage students in problem solving. Video Link Today he promotes this mindset of making and doing by working with students to develop the skills to collaborate, problem solve and communicate their ideas. This is the third year he is working with the UELF Students. Be sure to ask your children about their workshop session with Caine Monroy this week.
2023-2024 Enrollment for CRPUSD
Did you know that the UELF Staff number is based on the confirmation of enrollment of students at UELF? California funds public schools based on the number of students enrolled for the school year and based on the numbers of students who physically attend the school on the first 10 days of school. The more accurate our numbers are for students per grade level will ensure that teachers at UELF will be able create classrooms that best suit the needs of our students.

Words From Principal Lunde
Working with the weather....
It is the responsibility of the school to create an enthusiastic and safe learning environment for students. With the present weather, our CRPUSD Team is monitoring and working with local agencies to ensure that our sites are safe and secure for students to attend school on these wet days. Every morning there is a team walking on every campus and communicating with our superintendent with site updates. Communication will be sent to families by 6:30am if a site is found unsafe. I will send this via text, email, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
This last week, there was a moment when the power went out at UELF and the students were in session. First, Principal Lunde notified the district office so the maintenance team could learn how our outage fit with in the community. Second, Principal Lunde communicated with her teaching staff and visited each classroom. During this walk it was noted how every class was equipped with flashlights, the students were working with their teachers and class learning continued. It was beautiful! Third, the superintendent and principal were discussing the concerns around heat and food, which would have been the driving factors for sending students home. The power was restored so next steps did not need to happen. Our goal is keep the learning routine going, which means keeping kids at school. Please call me if you'd like more details or would like to discuss.
Keep Me In The Loop!
Please reach out to me if you have a bright idea, a concern (no matter how small or big) or just want to chat. I am here for you!
