Picture Retake Day
Due to the pandemic, many schools are requesting Lifetouch to take photos on multiple days which has filled their scheduling calendar. They are working hard to find time to schedule retakes but are only able to offer one day of retakes. Thank you for your understanding.
Picture retake day at Snail Lake will be held on Friday, November 13 from 10:00am-12:15pm. Retakes of group 1 students will be taken while in school that morning.
Distance Learners and Group 2 students who would like to sign up for a time slot to bring their child to school for a photo can do so at: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090E4EAAA92AA1F85-picture
In addition there was a printing error & some picture packages were printed twice. Therefore some families may be receiving a duplicate package of pictures in your child's backpack.
Covid Case Numbers within Mounds View
A new link at www.moundsviewschools.org/coronavirus shows a chart of the District's weekly COVID cases and the number of quarantining staff and students. No individual school building has five or more positive cases at this time. If or when that occurs, that information will be included here.

Answering your questions
At this week's School Board meeting, Superintendent Chris Lennox answered some of the most frequently asked questions the District is receiving lately, including:
Will the District ever consider bringing back students for full-time, in-person learning?
Can you help me understand the Learning Model Tracker?
Why can private schools have students back full-time yet we do not have our students back full-time?
Will parents and the community be told if there are COVID outbreaks in our schools?

Box Tops
No more clipping. No more sending Box Tops to school. All you need is your phone. Download the ALL-NEW Box Tops app, shop as you normally would, then simply scan your store receipts to find participating products. The app will automatically credit your school's Box Tops earnings online. In the past, we have used these earnings to purchase books for individual classrooms as well as for our library.
Kowalskis "Groceries for a Cause"
Snail Lake Kindergarten Center is a participant in Groceries for Good Causes program. Groceries for Good Causes program allows shoppers to choose which neighborhood organizations matter most to them. Simply drop your grocery receipt in one of the bins to "vote" for the organization you'd like to support, and Kowalski's will donate a percentage of their quarterly charitable giving budget based on the number of receipts in each box.
Parent Drop Off and Pick Up
Morning Drop Off:
- Students should be dropped off between 8:50 -9:05am. Should your child arrive after 9:05am they will be considered tardy and you will need to come sign them in the office.
- Please pull up in the front of the building along the sidewalk and move ahead as far as possible along the curb
- Remain in your vehicle, and staff will be outside to assist in getting your child in the building.
Afternoon Pick Up:
- Pick up time is 3:45pm
- Cars will begin lining up in the front of the building, and along the west side of the building
- Stay in your vehicle
- Each car will be provided a Parent Pick Up Pass to place in your windshield so we can visibly see the students name

Clarification on "Only Milk" Purchases
The Department of Agriculture Free Meals Program does NOT include Milk only purchases. It only supports a whole school meal. If a student chooses a Milk only they will be charged the regular rate of $.60.
MN Department of Health COVID -19 Attendance Guide and Home Screening Tool for Parents and Families
Staying home when you are sick is one of our best ways to fight COVID-19. Keeping sick children and children who are exposed to COVID-19 away from others helps stop the spread of the virus to other children, staff, and the surrounding community. Parents and guardians can refer to this COVID-19 Attendance Guide for Parents and Families to understand when their child can attend school, youth programs, and child care during COVID-19. Please monitor your child/children for signs and symptoms of illness each time you are going to send them to school, child care, or youth programs by using this Home Screening Tool. If you answer “yes” to any question, your child should stay home.
Thank you for your collaboration in keeping our school and community healthy!

Mounds View Public Schools Curriculum Advisory Committee
The Mounds View Public Schools Curriculum Advisory Committee is seeking representatives to serve on the committee for the 2020-21 school year. Committee members work in partnership with the district and community to gain knowledge and provide feedback about curriculum and other instructional issues.
If you are interested, please answer the questions found in this link Mounds View Curriculum Advisory Application.
As we navigate this school year and how to safely hold our Curriculum Advisory Committee meetings, we are exploring our in person options as well as virtual options for our members. We plan to meet three times this year, once in November, Jan/Feb and March/April. More information will be sent to those community members who are interested in being part of our committee. We kindly ask that you complete the form below as soon as possible so we can begin planning. We look forward to our time together.
Please see the Mounds View Curriculum Advisory website for meeting dates, past topics and other important information regarding the committee. If you have questions, please contact Gretchen Zahn at 651.621.6040 or by e-mail at gretchen.zahn@moundsviewschools.org

ISLAND LAKE PTA
Coloring Contest
Attention Island Lake students near and far! Here's a fun fall activity we can all do together--a coloring contest! Hybrid students will receive a coloring page from classroom teachers and can return their finished products to their teachers. Distance learners will be emailed an image to print or can pick one up in the Snail Lake lobby. Artwork can be returned at the next distance learning materials pickup date, Oct. 28, or can be emailed to teachers by Nov. 5. A winner from each grade will receive a certificate for a free Dairy Queen treat and have their artwork featured in the school newsletter and on the PTA Facebook page! Additionally, all students who participate will receive a certificate for a free small cone at Dairy Queen! The deadline for submissions is November 5. Please email contactilpta@gmail.com with any questions. Good luck and have fun!
Island Lake/Snail Lake Directory
Island Lake PTA sponsors a student directory as a tool for families to connect and build community. We hope you will find the directory perhaps even more useful during this unusual school year of blended and distance learning. It is PTA's desire to include all Island Lake and Snail Lake families in this directory.
If you are new to the school or have not been listed in past years, please create your account today!
Returning families who have been previously listed in the directory will continue to be listed. Please verify and update your information to include at least one email address per family.
Please note, many families inadvertently opted-out of our directory when completing the district's new online ParentVue Student Verification form by understandably indicating that they wanted Data Privacy from third parties. Unfortunately, PTA is considered a third party and therefore is NOT allowed to include these families unless they create their own accounts. (All new accounts will be verified by the directory staff before being allowed full access.)
To create, update and verify your account, visit islandlakepta.membershiptoolkit.com/directory
Membership Toolkit is a secure and searchable electronic directory that can be accessed from your home computer or mobile device. We encourage you to share as much information as you are comfortable. Directory Usage Guidelines The purpose of the Island Lake Directory is for reference only and communications pertaining to our school. Solicitations, advertising or mass emails are not allowed and may result in your access being revoked. Please help to keep the directory's purpose in line with our children's best interest. Thank you!
