GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
New: Eastview's Virtual Food Drive
Eastview High School is holding a Virtual Food Drive to support families in need right here in our community! We are collecting cash, checks (made out to 360 Communities) and gift cards.
The cash and checks will go to local food shelves so they can buy in bulk and also buy fresh fruit, veggies, dairy and bread products without fear of them spoiling. We want to help support the 30,000+ people in Dakota County who are food insecure and rely on our local food shelves!
The gift cards (from Cub, Target, Walmart, Hy-Vee, gas stations and local restaurants like Culvers, Subway, Jimmy Johns, etc.) will help us support our EVHS students and families meet weekend food needs and transportation costs.
Donations will be accepted December 6th - December 20th. Donations can be dropped off with your student’s Advisory teacher throughout the drive. Donations of any amount will be accepted and appreciated!
The need in our community is great…but our generosity and collective power to make a difference can be even greater! Let’s come together and do our part to help our neighbors in need.

🙌 Some quotes from previous years' graduates about their All Night Party experience 🙌
The senior party was one last time for all of us to be together...and one of the last times I got to go around the halls of Eastview High School. It was so fun to have all of those activities and prizes it really made the night of our graduation memorable!!
Earlier in the night with graduation it felt as though the Eastview puzzle was complete. Until I realized that final piece was missing, the senior party...To myself and many others, the senior party was a chance to share an experience with friends and acquaintances that symbolized the end of 13 years together...Sliding the last puzzle piece into place completed my experience as an Eastview student and I am so grateful I got to experience the senior party.
The senior party to me was something that was unexpectedly way better than I ever would have thought...It was great that everyone decided to go to it and have a good time.
Don't miss out on this special rate of $85!

2024-2025 FAFSA Form Launch Date: December 31st, 2023
The new 2024-2025 FAFSA® Form will be available on December 31, 2023. While we wait for the new FAFSA® Form to become available, now is the perfect time for students and their contributors to get their FSA IDs. That way, you are ready to complete and submit the FAFSA® as soon as it becomes available.
While additional information can be found on the Federal Student Aid website, we included some key FAQs related to the FSA ID:
What is an FSA ID?
An FSA ID is a username and password that is required to log in to certain U.S. Department of Education (ED) websites. Your FSA ID identifies you as someone who has the right to access your own personal information on ED websites such as the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®).
Why do you recommend doing this now?
Processing a new FSA ID can take up to 5 business days. By getting those IDs now, it means students and their families will be ready to complete and submit the FAFSA® once it's available and not have to wait for their FSA IDs to process.
Who needs an FSA ID?
Beginning with the 2024–25 FAFSA®, all contributors (student, student's spouse, and/or parent) must have their own FSA ID.
To find out if you are eligible for financial aid and to submit a FAFSA®, please visit the Federal Student Aid eligibility page.
How does someone get an FSA ID?
To create an FSA ID, please go to https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch.
What if the student or contributor doesn’t remember their FSA ID or is not sure if they have one?
To retrieve a forgotten FSA ID or password, please go to https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/sign-in/landing and click either the "Forgot my Username" or "Forgot my Password" links.
What if the parent of a student doesn't have a Social Security Number (SSN)?
Those contributors without an SSN, but whose student is eligible to apply for federal student aid, will need an FSA ID. However, they cannot yet create an FSA ID without an SSN. It is expected that this access will be available around the same time the FAFSA® is released.

VARSITY SPORTS
Skippers Sink Lightning
The defending state AA Champion and #1 ranked Minnetonka Skippers shut out the Eastview Varsity Boys' Hockey team 6-0 in Minnetonka on December 2. Eastview goaltender Gabe Otis continued his excellent play, stopping 39 of Minnetonka's 45 shots. Six different Skippers scored, including Minnesota Gopher commit Javon Moore. Minnetonka kept the Lightning out of their offensive zone for most of the game, running up an overwhelming 45-6 shot advantage. Displaying a combination of skill, speed and physicality not often seen at the high school level, the Skippers dominated play. Senior forwards Jaymeson Zachary and Zach Wooten were among those who showed hustle and heart in creating Eastview’s few scoring chances. Eastview’s only power play opportunity was foreclosed as officials bled some seven minutes of running time in the third period to sort out multiple penalties imposed after tempers flared between the teams.
Minnetonka’s 6-0 win was their closest game of the season. The Lightning will resume play against mortal teams when they open their Suburban South schedule against Eagan at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 5 at the Apple Valley Sports Arena.
Lightning Zap Cadets 4-1
The Eastview Boys Varsity Hockey Team beat St. Thomas Academy 4-1 in a nonconference game on Thursday, November 30. Senior Goaltender Gabe Otis allowed a single power-play goal and saved 35. Senior Forward Billy Downs got the Lightning off to a fast start, scoring 52 seconds into the first period on a nice feed from Sophomore Forward Sam Wooten. The ice then tilted in the Cadets' favor as they built an 18-6 lead in shots on goal and scored on a deflection during a power play early in the second period. But later in the second period, Sam Wooten collected a loose puck high in the Cadets' zone and scored to put the Lightning back on top. Jordan Brothers scored later in the second on a deft backhand pass from Zach Wooten. In the third period, TJ Kelsey forced a turnover in front of the Cadets' goal and scored to make the final score 4-1. Otis was outstanding in net throughout the game, gloving shot after shot while the Cadets enjoyed extended offensive zone time. Despite being outshot 36-15, the Lightning spoiled the Cadets' home opener.
Eastview Girls Varsity Hockey
It has been a busy few weeks for the Eastview Girls Hockey team. They have had four games since Tuesday, November 21st, and were able to make it through that stretch with a 3-1 record. Overall, the Lightning are 4-2 on the season.
On Saturday, December 2nd, Eastview faced Shakopee and made it out with a 2-1 win. In the first period, 8th grader Brielle Clardy scored her first Varsity goal to get things started. After a scoreless second period, Shakopee got on the board in the third scoring a power play goal to tie it up 1-1. Less than a minute later, 8th grader Jaden Slominski scored her first Varsity goal assisted by senior Brynn Dihel to put the Lightning up 2-1. Senior Lila Hanson had another strong game in net saving 36 of 37 shots.
On Thursday, November 30th, Eastview beat Apple Valley 2-1 in a hard fought game. The Lightning went up 1-0 in the second period on a goal by Junior Ella Schaefer assisted by Seniors Ellie Groebner and Erin Hayward. Apple Valley tied it up with about 10 minutes left, but Eastview kept battling and was able to score the game winning goal with 51 seconds left in the game. Junior Sari Cords scored the game winner on a power play assisted by Seniors Ellie Groebner and Erin Hayward. Senior goalie Lila Hanson was strong in the net for the lightning stopping 25 of 26 shots.
The Girls Hockey Team faced Wayzata on Tuesday, November 28th and came away with a big 2-1 victory! Both goals in the game were scored by Senior Erin Hayward and both goals were assisted by Junior Sari Cords. Freshman goalie Beth Bigalke had her first Varsity start in net and saved 22 of 23 shots in the win.
Finally, on Tuesday, November 21st, the Lightning lost a tough game to a strong Lakeville North team 5-0. While they came up short, the team finished the game strong and was able to build on that for their other three games this past week.
JV SPORTS
The Eastview Boys JV Hockey Team recently played 2 non-conference games. The JV boys took on the St. Thomas Cadets last Thursday. Ty Young was in net and faced 39 shots. The Cadets took a 1 to 0 lead in the first period. In the 2nd period, St. Thomas had 19 shots on goal and scored twice to make it 3 to 0, Cadets. Eastview’s #14 Liam O’Donnell scored with assists from #26 Shane Klein and #12 Mason Gillis to make it 3 to 1. St. Thomas scored twice in the 3rd period to win 5 to 1.
On Saturday, the JV Boys played their 2nd nonconference game against Minnetonka. The Skippers were strong, but Zach Wakefield was composed and fierce in net, facing 65 shots. The Skippers beat the JV Lightning 17 to 0. The Eastview JV Boys are looking forward to tonight when they host Eagan at the Apple Valley Sports Arena. Game time is 5pm.
