Greetings from Groveport Elementary

Dear Groveport Elementary Community,

Groveport Madison Schools takes the safety of our students and staff very seriously. This school year, vestibules (secured glass enclosures) have been added to the main entrance of each elementary and middle school. If you have been at the school lately, you may have noticed our front entrance is complete and the School Safe ID system has been installed and is ready to go. This kiosk is where all visitor to the building will scan their ID, and the system will conduct a quick background check before school staff allows the individual entry into the school. This is also where students leaving early and coming late will sign in and out. We also expect all visitors to also sign out when they leave the building. This new safer process will start on Monday 2/5.

I also wanted to address the modular classrooms. Although detached from the actual building these classrooms are part of the school and all safety measures apply. All visitors must sign in and get their badge before going to the mods and also must re-enter the building and sign out before leaving.

I-Ready Personalized Instruction - Last week the average percent of lessons passed overall was 90% and the lesson time on task percent overall was 84%. Shout to the following classes for having the overall best for their grade level for lessons passed and time on task.

Reading = Mrs. Chandler, Mrs. Jahn, Mrs. LaCass, Ms. Miller, Mrs. Mosure, and Ms. Wolf's homeroom

Math = Mrs. Chandler, Mrs. Jahn, Mrs. Martin, Mrs. Keller, Ms. Fravel, and Mr. Yurasek's homeroom

Attendance = This week's average attendance was only 94.6 % We should easily be at 95% attendance every day. We are so close to our goal. Every minute counts so please make sure to be at school and on time each day.

We are so proud of our January Students of the Month. Congratulations to the following students: Auriell Berry, Taelor Kenley, Nicole Utetiwabo, Cooper Gent, Sefa Asamoah, Zachariah Crenshaw, Robbert Gillies, Annalise Russell, Emma Kozdron, Mila Garcia Del Rosario, Carson Waugh, Patrick Pherson, Saadiyo Noor, Kimora Twumasi Bentlee Anastasia, Aaliyah Rampasard, Ryder Jackson, Matthew Crenshaw, Ressie Baxter, Zoey Frashier, Kennedy Blackburn, Dimonie Turner, and TJ Washington! The Focus for January was Self-Discipline and Goal Setting. The students enjoyed lunch with Mrs. Robetoy, Mrs. Bray, and the other students of the month. They were very appreciative of the pizza, cupcakes, and Student of the Month shirt. The character traits for February Kindness and Empathy.

Next week is National School Counselors Week and we have one of the best! We are so lucky to have Mrs. Lloyd at our school and we just wanted to let her know how much we appreciate everything she does every day for the students and staff. Thank You! Love You!

Special area teachers (Mrs. Brunner, Mrs.Kovas, Mrs. Moore, and Mrs. Sperk) give a trophy to the 1st class to earn 20 points for entering the classroom quietly, being good listeners, providing good effort and exiting quietly. Other classes have won the past few months, but Mrs. Cordell's class is the first class to earn all three at the same time! WOW!!

Cruiser STAR Awards are given to students by staff members for students who show characteristics of being a Cruiser STAR - Stay Safe, Take Responsibility, Act Respectfully, Reach Goals. Students come to the office and put their gold STAR in our Treasure Box. Every Friday, Mrs. Bray picks 15 - 20 STARs from the Treasure Box and calls those students to the office for a prize.
