Morning Drop Off
Thank you for your cooperation!
Please remember the EARLIEST DROP OFF IS 8:00 am! Students arriving prior to 8:00 a.m. will be asked to remain in their vehicles until 8:00.
Also, please no unintended vehicles in the car rider line. Unfortunately, it backs up the line into the street during a high traffic time. Please park in a parking space if you need to walk your student to the door or if you have office business. Together we can keep our husky drop off zone a safe, friendly place!

Join Our PTA!
Our Parent Teacher Association is comprised of parents/guardians of Mt Vernon students and Mt Vernon teachers/staff. Collaboratively they:
- Plan fun and enriching events for our students,
- Provide funding for student materials and incentives, field trips and assemblies, musical instruments, library technology, PE and playground equipment, and uniform assistance,
- Encourage and boost family involvement in our school.
It's never too late to join! We have four general meetings throughout the year (attendance not required to join, and membership is not required to attend the meetings).
Meetings at 6 pm rotating either in person (at Mt Vernon) or via Zoom.
Check out our PTA Facebook page!
Welcome to our new staff members!
Jessica Abbe, 2nd Grade
My name is Jessica Abbe, and I'm so excited to be joining Mount Vernon as a second grade teacher! I love reading, writing short stories, hiking, and having get togethers with friends and family.
Kate Aly-Brady, English Language Development
Kate has been a special education teacher in Eugene for 19 years. She earned her bachelor's degree in special education from East Carolina Univeristy, and a master's from the University of Oregon. In her free time, she enjoys playing in water, and taking videos of her cat with cerebellar hypoplasia (ask her about it...if you have an hour to spare!).
Karyn Knecht, 5th Gracde
Karyn Knecht (pronounced “Connect”) is a new 5th grade teacher this year. She grew up in Tennessee and moved to Oregon in 2017. She worked as an educator in science museums before becoming a teacher. She loves to visit the coast with her dog and play D&D with her teacher friends. The best part of her summer break was visiting Banff National Park in Canada.
Cayla Lussier, School Psychologist
My name is Cayla and I am joining the Mt. Vernon team as an intern school psychologist for the 2023 – 2024 school year. I am currently attending the University of Oregon and working toward my PhD in school psychology. I am a lifelong Oregonian, growing up in Redmond, and completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Oregon. As the school psychologist intern at Mt. Vernon this year I will be helping to provide academic, behavioral, and social supports by conducting special education evaluations and collaborating with teachers, administrators, and other specialists. My goal is to be a resource to students, families, and educators both in and out of the classroom. I look forward to working with this community.
Emily Miller, Music
Ms. M is the new music teacher at MTV. Originally from Portland, OR, she discovered a passion for both instrumental and vocal music at a young age. Her main instrument is French Horn. She just graduated from Oregon State where she received the Outstanding Senior in Music Education Award. Her hobbies include bowling, paddle boarding, and cooking. She is very excited to start her teaching career and to start making music with the students!
Kelley Reade, 1st Grade
Hi, my name is Kelley Reade and I have lived in Oregon my whole life. I am originally from Grants Pass and have always enjoyed spending my time in the mountains, on the river, or at the coast. This will be my first year teaching full-time, and I am thrilled to be a part of the Mt. Vernon team! I look forward to a year full of learning and growth with all of our students!
Harmony Stevens, PE
Ali Vaughan, 3rd Grade Facilitating Teacher
Ali is joining our team with 7 years of teaching experience in the Springfield school district. She has taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade. She loves being outdoors, live music, board games, and cooking.
