Highlight of the week:
Methacton HS Coaches Meet with the District Solicitor for Professional Development.
Big shout out to solicitor Kyle Somers for joining us last week to discuss hot button topics like Supreme Court decisions involving high school athletics as well as updates regarding PIAA's decision to approve the rule allowing student-athletes to sign name, image, and likeness (NIL) agreements. He also gave us some great insight into issues to watch in the high school athletics world.
We appreciate everyone joining us and hope to make these discussions a regular occurrence for our program and coaches moving forward!
Sincerely,

Nicholas Willen got the day started for the warriors with a new PR of 1:58.33 in the 800m, earning him an 11th place finish in the state. Shortly after his brother Zachary Willen, matched his 11th place finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.25.

Christian Kinard, Nicholas Willen, SahBri Hill and Zachary Willen competed hard and exceeded their expectations, winning their heat with a blistering 3:25.56! This time held on for 7th overall at the meet and a state medal. They shaved a total of 4.3 seconds off the previous school record this indoor season and is 2.5 seconds under the nationals standards.
Besides state qualifiers, there are other all time program accomplishments by the kids worth recognizing this winter. Many relays & individuals put themselves in the Methacton history books with top 10 all time school performances.
- SahBri Hill now holds the 2nd fastest indoor 400m time in school history with his mark of 51.31! Nicholas Willen's 53.12 is 7th all time and Christian Kinard's 53.76 is 9th all time.

Girls Winter Track
The Girls Track and Field Team wrapped up their season with a trip to Penn State for the State Championship Meet. The only sport where all public and private schools of all levels compete in a single championship, the best athletes from across the state were on display. The Girls program has qualified athletes for the State Championships in each of the past 23 seasons (barring 2021, when no Championship was held).
Summer Mellow fought through an ankle injury to place 15th in the Long Jump and 16th in the 60m dash. Only a junior, she has aspirations of taking home at least one medal next year. The 4x800 Relay of Bipasha Moktan, Juliana Trigone, Molly Thomas and Kate Thomas ended their season with a 20th place finish in the event.
Although the post season is complete, there were a few National Championship qualifiers. Summer Mellow will compete in both the 60M dash and the Long Jump. She will also be the anchor of the 4x200 relay, joining Analiesa Geiling, Soleil Bond-Johnson and Kenslee O'Donnell. The quartet will compete in two weeks in New York City.
Cheerleading
The Varsity Cheerleaders wrapped up their season this weekend with a clean sweep at the Kedron Spirit Classic! After two near-perfect routines, the team took home first place in the Small Varsity division, first place in the Game Day division and Overall School Grand Champions. The stunt group comprised of Rachel Bower, Kate Bradford, Paige Corne and Jorja Rembert also won the Stunt-off competition. It was a fantastic end to the 2022-2023 competition season!
This week's shout-outs go to Noelle Emerson, Emily Loughran and Shaniyah Wright!
Noelle is a strong base with great jumps. She is versatile and willing to step in anywhere she is needed to help her team. New to MHS Cheer this year, Noelle brought so much positivity, determination, and a great attitude to our team-we are so thankful to have her!
Emily is a veteran team member who, thankfully, bounced back from an injury just in time to take the mat this weekend. You would have never known she was gone- her stunts were rock solid! Emily is super versatile, filling multiple positions, and a beautiful tumbler. We're very proud of her determination and perseverance this season!
Shaniyah is a freshman who has grown so much this season! She is a fantastic back spot who rocks every one of her stunts. She has a spirited and engaging presence both on the sidelines and the competition floor, showing genuine enthusiasm and spirit. We are so proud of her dedication to the team this season!
