Instructions
Step 1
Review the list of pathogens and select your top 3-4 choices. When your name is called you will need to choose a pathogen that hasn’t already been chosen by a classmate. If you would like to research a pathogen not on the list, you will need approval from your teacher.
Step 2
Research your pathogen. Take a look at the rubric and make sure you gather information in each area that you'll be evaluated in.
Rubric:
Pathogen Description
Describe the viral/bacterial structure of the pathogen
Identify virus or bacteria (use scientific name if applicable)
Visual Picture/Diagram
Minimum 3 pictures (one must be picture of microscopic pathogen)
Effects of Pathogen
Disease(s) caused by pathogen
Target organism(s) or organs within an organism
Mode of transmission (how is this passed between organisms?)
Symptoms or side effects
Prevention/Treatment
Effective prevention methods (include vaccine if there is one)
