Hello McPherson Families,
This week, we start our Back to School activities with registration day on Wednesday, August 9. With less than two weeks before school starts, this is a great time to start reestablishing routines, especially an earlier bedtime, that will help all students have a successful start to the school year.
Please be sure you have completed your data confirmation via Parent Portal. This process ensures that we have accurate emergency contact information and verifies enrollment at McPherson for the coming year. Please reach out to the office if you have any questions.

DATA CONFIRMATION MUST BE COMPLETED BY ALL PARENTS
Required forms for McPherson Magnet School registration will all be completed online. DATA CONFIRMATION IS NOW AVAILABLE ON PARENT PORTAL.
All McPherson parents must register for McPherson and complete their “Data Confirmation” on Parent Portal. If “Data Confirmation” is not completed for McPherson before registration on August 9, we will assume that you are not coming to McPherson and will move the next person on our lottery list.
If you need help completing your “Data Confirmation” or any other assistance in registering, please call the McPherson office at 714-997-6384, and we will be happy to assist you. Please register and complete “Data Confirmation”, so that we may be able to open up spots in our lottery if your child is not returning to McPherson.
August 9 - REGISTRATION DAY
Remember to complete your Data Confirmation before you come to registration.

1. Purchase Agenda (2nd through 8th grade) - $8.00 donation – CASH ONLY
2. Make an optional $10 technology/STEM software donation per student – CASH ONLY
3. Turn in one Signature Page per student, signed by Parent and Student After Reviewing the McPherson Handbook on McPherson's webpage.

A-J: 8:00am-9:00am
K-P: 9:00am-10:00am
Q-Z: 10:00am-11:00am
Picture Day for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students on August 9, during registration. Middle School students will also pick up their textbooks from the library, receive their ID cards and may purchase Middle School PE uniforms.

Please see the attached list for all suggested/optional supply donation lists for Kindergarten-5th grade. Middle School teachers will be giving out a suggested supply list the first week of school.
Please remember that all 2nd through 8th-grade students will be using agendas, which will be available on registration day on August 9 for an $8.00 donation. CASH ONLY.

PTSA Membership & Spirit Wear
On Wednesday, August 9, during Registration, you will have the opportunity to join PTSA ($20) as well as buy the very popular spirit shirts ($15) which students can wear on Fridays. This design was voted on by students and staff and will surely sell quickly. Spirit-wear t-shirts are always popular with the students and teachers as a Fun Friday clothing option. The shirts will definitely sell out fast. Be sure to buy yours at registration on Wednesday!
Also at the PTSA table on Wednesday will be opportunities to purchase your birthday marquee sign as well as learn more about additional ways to volunteer with the PTSA and make an impact on the McPherson community.
Joining PTSA has an impact on every student at McPherson! and learn more about how you can help. When you join PTSA you have a huge impact on the programs and opportunities we provide to the McPherson student body. We are also having a membership drive through the end of August with some fun class prizes!

Our non-profit foundation focuses on securing funding to support our STEM initiatives. We help bring great programs and cutting-edge technology to the school. McPherson Education Foundation - STILL NEEDS VOLUNTEERS FOR STREET FAIR
The McPherson Education Foundation has a wristband booth at the Orange International Street Fair from Friday, Sep 1 - Sunday, Sep 3. We are looking for volunteers to help staff the booth (your time will be credited to your volunteer hour requirement at McPherson Magnet). We are only asking for 2.5 hours of your time, which earns us about $100 in donations per volunteer. It’s a fun way to hang out and meet your fellow McPherson parents. You are also welcome to sign up and bring a friend with you (must be 21+). All volunteers will receive a free McPherson Spirit Shirt. Volunteers need to be 21+, but students are welcome to attend the street fair and support their adult family members. (Students may not be in the booth while parents are selling). All proceeds from the Orange International Street Fair Booth benefit current and future students at McPherson Magnet by supporting the STEM programs at the school.

MPherson Leadership – Will Be At the Street Fair – “Swiss Booth”
Come and support our leadership class Saturday, September 2, and Sunday, September 3, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, at the Street Fair at the Orange Plaza on Glassell. Leadership will be selling Polish and Bratwurst sandwiches. The leadership is asking for your “tip” donations. Only tip profits go to McPherson Leadership class.

All FAMILIES - come on down to McPherson on Saturday, August 12th, to help us spruce up our campus. Many hands make the load light. We have a lot of small projects that can be done by all members of the family - i.e…..painting, planting new bushes in the quad, refinishing benches, working in Earth Lab, working in the California garden, cleaning, and much more

Announcing dates for the Fall Middle School Sports Program at McPherson Magnet
Soccer practice begins on Monday, August 28 for our middle school soccer teams. The first soccer game will be on Monday, September 11. See all practice and game dates in "Upcoming Dates". Athletic Packet is required for all students to participate in any sport at McPherson. If your student is going to play Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, or Football, please complete the pack NOW and check all sports your student will be playing through the year. Please turn in your Athletic Packet to the front office the first week of school.
McPherson Uniforms
McPherson Magnet School Uniforms are sold exclusively by Kustom Imprints. Polo shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, shorts, and skorts. Buy online at www.McPhersonUniforms.com and then pick up at Kustom Imprints office in Orange, CA. If you need to try on your uniform first for proper sizing, just visit their showroom at 1661 N. Glassell St. Orange, CA. At this time, they have all sizes available and a private fitting room. Se Habla Español.
DON’T WAIT! – Buying your school uniforms early in summer will be your best chance to get all the sizes and color options you need for school start on August 16th.
*Plain navy blue, light blue, or grey polos are also allowed and can be purchased from any uniform department (ex. Target, Walmart, etc)
PE Uniforms
All 6th, 7th and 8th-grade students will dress out for PE. A PE uniform order is attached. You can order and pay for the uniforms on registration day, August 9. If you have any questions, please e-mail Mr. Mitchell at mjmitch@orangeusd.org.
