Georgia Parent Survey
The Georgia Parent Survey is designed to give parents an opportunity to share input with the Georgia Department of Education. It contains 24 questions. Parents may complete the survey using a personal computer, smartphone, or tablet. Parents that do not have access to the Internet, should contact their child’s school to arrange to complete the survey at the school.
The Minor Elementary Parent Center is available from 9:00am-3:00pm daily to assist parents with completing the survey. The data parents provide by completing this survey will be used as part of the calculation of the School Climate Star Rating. Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis. Individual data results from the Georgia Parent Survey will not be available to system or school personnel or the public and will not be posted online.
Please provide your voice for Gwinnett County Public Schools by CLICKING HERE and completing the survey.

Parent Tips for Social Emotional Learning
Our Character Trait for December and January is EMPATHY
One way to think about Empathy is “understanding and connecting with other people’s feelings.” Empathy is a practice that can help us grow strong relationships. All students in grades K-5 will be learning about empathy through fun, interactive activities in our school’s Character Strong program. Here are a couple of ideas you can use at home to promote your child’s understanding of Empathy.
Family Movie Night: Spot the Feelings
Schedule a family movie night so that you can specifically watch for feelings and emotions. Let everyone know that you’d like them to point out how the characters in the show are feeling. As
emotions are identified, invite one another to Empathize by sharing about a time they felt that way or imagining how they might be feeling in that moment.
Celebrate Empathy at Home
Review the definition of Empathy as a family! Remember that Empathy is understanding and connecting with other people’s feelings. Find a time to sit together and celebrate all the ways you have seen each other practice Empathy. Take turns sharing responses to the following questions:
● What is 1 way a family member has shown you Empathy lately?
● Share about a time when you felt like someone really listened to you.
This tip is brought to you by the Minor Elementary Counseling Department.
