Winter Concert
Our Grade 1-3 students are very excited about performing a Winter Concert this year! Stay tuned for dates and times. We are working out logistics to best accommodate everyone. Cindy Blanchard, our music teacher, will be communicating with Kindergarten parents about an opportunity to visit classes in January.
Winter Clothing
It's getting cold outside and students need to be prepared with winter clothing. Please make sure your child has a warm coat, a hat, and mittens or gloves on these cold days. When the weather turns to snow, students will need boots and snow pants. We go outside in all kinds of weather! Please add your child's name to their winter gear in the event they leave something behind. If your child needs winter clothing, please email Ann Rutherford at arutherford@maynard.k12.ma.us.

Curriculum and Assessment Updates
Grade 3 Concord Museum Program
Over the next three school days, each of our Grade 3 classes will attend a program offered through the Concord Museum called Two Worlds Meet. The program offers both hands-on opportunities and discussion to learn about the first encounters between Native People and English settlers in Massachusetts. Students work in small groups to build communities, discussing the many similarities and differences between both, and the root causes behind some of the conflicts that arose. Students will explore similar artifacts from both groups of people, noting the ingenuity and purpose behind both.
Grade 3 Presentation Schedule:
Friday, November 17 - Donahue, Gamboni
Monday, November 20 - Thomas, McPhail
Tuesday, November 21 - Duddy
Update from Food Services
Our Food Services Department has been hard at work updating menus and introducing our students to new foods. Here are some highlights from Sue Mitchell-Tang, our Whitsons District General Manager:
- Introduced chicken & vegetable dumplings with sweet chili sauce, which was very well received at Green Meadow.
- Introduced Greek yogurt with warm rolls, freshly baked blueberry and banana muffins, American griller sandwiches (egg & cheese grilled sandwich) to the breakfast menu. The breakfast participation rate has increased by 20%
- Hosted yard bird burger day – Crispy baked chicken in a toasted brioche roll, topped with lettuce, tomato, pickle chips & chicken kicken sauce.
- Principal Rouleau helped served lunch one day. This was a big hit with students!
- Introduced a watermelon & feta cheese salad for lunch
- Hosted Lucky Milk Carton day – If the students found milk stickers on their milk carton, they received a small prize.
- We celebrated Halloween at Green Meadow with Bat shaped grilled cheese sandwiches.
PTO Updates
Holiday Shoppe 2023
As a holiday tradition, the GM PTO is again sponsoring the Holiday Shoppe, a gift-purchasing event for the children. The event gives children the opportunity to purchase a special gift for their family/friends. This event is for Green Meadow students in grades K-3 only. Gifts range from $.25 to $10 with most being in the $5 range.
This year, the Holiday Shoppe will run on Saturday, December 9th at the Boys and Girls Club from 10am-2pm. All children wanting to participate will need to sign up for a time slot. Parents will bring their child(ren) to the club at their designated time slot and then wait in the car while their child(ren) shop. Volunteers will be there to shop with your child(ren) and bring them back to your car when completed. If you have a child that may be anxious or need extra support we are happy to allow one parent to shop with them – please email kim@gmpto.org if needed.
Time slots are on a first come, first serve basis
Make sure to sign-up each of your children for a timeslot, not yourself!

· Once signed up, envelopes with details for shopping will go in backpacks the Thursday before
· Gift Limit is 6: Due to time limitations, there is a maximum of 6 gifts per child.
· We Need Volunteers: This event would not be possible without the help of our volunteers. Please help keep this tradition going by signing up for a time slot. We need parents to shop with kids as well as do simple wrapping (put items in bags)! Go to https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080B4AADAA2DA20-46189640-2023 to sign up! You will need a CORI form on file prior to volunteering!
