Assistant Principal's Message
Semester 1 Report Cards
The report cards for Semester 1 will be visible online through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal beginning January 12th. Teachers will also be sending home a paper copy of the report card in an envelope with the students. Please sign and return this envelope, so that teachers can reuse it for the Semester 2 report card. On the report card you will see your child’s grade under the Semester Average column and a rating for Non-Academic Skills in that subject to the right. Definitions for those skills can be found at the bottom of the report card.
Recess- Cold Weather
During winter months, students will still go outside for recess if the temperature is above 32 degrees at recess time. Please be sure to send your child to school with a jacket for recess. It is a good idea to write the name inside the jacket so that it will be returned to the students from Lost and Found. If you do not want to write on your child’s jacket, one suggestion is to write their name on masking tape and put that inside the jacket, so that it can be removed at a later date.
Volunteers
Beginning January 3, 2024, Fulton County Schools will be utilizing the CheckMate Sign-In system to welcome visitors and volunteers into our schools. CheckMate has replaced the Raptor system. Unfortunately, the Volunteer Registration system did not roll over into the new system and all School Volunteers will need to re-register. Any task that will allow you to interact with students will require you to register as a Volunteer. The new re-registration will be effective until May 31, 2026. We appreciate your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience. Please follow the link below to access the FCS Volunteer Registration page.
https://www.fultonschools.org/Page/9539
Important - All Visitors and Volunteers must remember to bring in their driver's license each time they sign in. The license will be scanned each time. Thank you for your patience as we are implementing this new safety procedure.
Continuous Achievement
We have concluded our 36-week Continuous Achievement review. If your child qualified for a placement change for the 2nd Semester, you received a letter from Ms. Halron in December. If you have any questions, please reach out to Carrie Halron at Halron@fultonschools.org.
PBIS At-Home Tip of the Week
Incorporate some social-emotional learning into your at-home implementation of PBIS. Try teaching your child(ren) the four Ps:
· Patient
· Persistent
· Positive
· Polite
For example, part of being responsible means you have to be persistent. Throughout that expectation, add ways you can encourage each other to keep going even when something seems hard. Being patient fits nicely with the respectful expectation. Weaving these ideas into the matrix makes it familiar to your kids and also relevant to your home. 😊
