Winter Program Wraps up!!
A huge thank you and shout out to parents, teachers and support staff that helped chaperone students to Loon Mtn and Evergreen. Both venues love having Woodsville Elementary students come because the are so well behaved.
Students that were not able to participate were able to see a puppet show on Friday. This is the 4th year we have had this puppeteer come to Woodsville Elementary. She travels over 2 hours to put on a fantastic interactive show for our students. She makes all her own puppets and our students have never had a repeated show.
News From Kindergarten
We had such a fun week celebrating 100 days of school! Students got to count manipulatives they brought from home to 100. We were also introduced to place value to the 100’s place. In literacy, we are now focusing on the short e word families (et, en, ed). In phonics, we are blending phonemes and isolating beginning, middle and ending sounds. This practice is really helping us to write and read CVC words. We are so happy with how far these students have come! They are 100 days smarter :)))

News From 1st Grade
The first graders have had a fun week! We were all excited to celebrate completing 100 days of school on Tuesday. Student’s did a variety of fun activities across the three first grade classrooms to celebrate. Some students made a project out of 100 items while others dressed up as if they were 100 years old! In Ms. Favaloro's the student’s tallied their way to 100 with pretzel sticks. In Mrs. Norcross' room the student’s built a tower out of 100 cups to name a few activities. The student’s were so excited to be able to regroup all 10 groups of 10 to get a group of 100 during our calendar time!
In literacy we are working on understanding the point of view in a text. During read aloud time we discuss who is narrating the story and whether they are narrating in first-person or third-person. When you read aloud to your child at home you can also ask them this question!
As always our first graders have had a busy, fun week full of hard work! Keep up the good work first grade!
News From 2nd Grade
The “plot” is thickening in second grade. We are studying line plots in our math program. We are learning to collect, display and interpret data using a line plot. We continue to learn about different kinds of weather in our reading module called “wild weather”.
We also celebrated the 100th day of school! Second graders did a variety of activities that involved the number 100! It’s hard to believe 100 days have passed already. We look forward to a great rest of the school year.
News From 3rd Grade
The third grade students did some different activities around the 100th Day of School.
The students continue to work hard with division, as well as learning their multiplication facts.
Mrs. Knudson’s class is enjoying our social studies unit on government. We have been learning about the different levels of government: Federal, State, and Local, and what happens at each of those levels.
In Mr Jones’ our scientists have been looking at variety in nature and discovering which surprising fruits and vegetables are actually related, but have had certain traits carefully selected.
