A Note from Lisa and Chelsea
Hello CTE Friends,
Spring has sprung, and the buzz of senior excitement is being heard in the background. This time following spring break (as we head into testing season and juggle end-of-year plans and CTSO advanced competitions) can get pretty hectic. Be sure to take the time to soak in the warm sunshine, take note of all that blooms, and absorb the energy coming off students as they look ahead to summer.
If a school year is a marathon, not a sprint, know that you are rounding the final lap and can see the finish line on the horizon. We are here to support you through the end of the year and will have summer professional learning opportunities available for all!
Best regards,
Lisa and Chelsea

Career and Technical Education Teacher Professional Development Update
The Texas Education Agency will host four regional convenings to provide professional development for Career and Technical Education teachers. These trainings will prepare CTE teachers with enhanced classroom management skills, new instructional strategies, an exploration of different learning styles, and a deep dive into TEKS and program standards.
The CTE Teacher PD developers at ESC Region 20 recognize the effect that COVID-19 has had on each classroom, including the strain that the substitute shortage across the state has placed on school districts and charter schools. The regional design of these convenings reflects a concerted effort to shorten travel while still providing quality professional development. We hope you can join us as we partner with you in your region.

Official Notification of the 2021–2022 Operational Minutes Adjustment
TEA Released March 29, 2022
This letter provides guidance to school districts and open-enrollment charter schools (LEAs) that are eligible for a reduction in the number of required 75,600 minutes of operation. Texas Education Code (TEC), §25.081(b), provides that the commissioner may approve the operation of schools for fewer than 75,600 minutes if a disaster, flood, extreme weather condition, fuel curtailment, or other calamity causes the closing of schools.

FREE FAFSA Tracker
Do you need access to local, state, and national FAFSA submission data?
There is a tracker for that!
The #FormYourFuture FAFSA Tracker is an interactive data dashboard that tracks and ranks states’ progress toward 100% of their high school seniors completing the FAFSA and measures change year over year. The tracker shows weekly progress and allows for year-to-year comparisons at the national, state, city, school district, and school levels.
Dive into the data here, which comes from the office of Federal Student Aid, to see how your state stacks up.
You can also explore data on FAFSA renewals here (for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 cycles).
