News From the Band Room

Hi Folks - Hard to believe we are entering into our 8th week of the season. The band had a good night this past Friday entertaining the crowd with a great performance and cheering on the football team to a decisive victory over Octorara. This week we will be traveling to Lampeter-Strasburg high school to take on the pioneers. It is also their Homecoming, so our band will be performing BEFORE the game at 6:30pm. Students may stay after school again this week and the boosters will be providing a meal before departure.

Tonight we will be having a parent meeting for both the musical, White Christmas at 6:00pm and a band booster meeting in the band room immediately following. Please try to attend these meetings as we will be discussing important details about the upcoming musical and band events.

During halftime at the October 20th football game, we will be celebrating our senior band members. Posters of seniors are finished and have been installed on the fence right in front of the band area of the stands. Parents of seniors should report to the track for the halftime performance on the 20th. You may watch the show from the sidelines, then quickly line up alphabetically by last name. (the posters are in the same order ;) Your senior will join you on the track and each senior and their parents will be recognized. If you have any questions, please email me.

The Lebanon County Band Exhibition will take place on Saturday, October 21st at Palmyra football stadium (directly behind Palmyra Middle School). Report time that day will be 3:15, Inspection at 3:30pm, and departure at 3:45pm. We will travel to Palmyra stadium and have a boxed lunch provided by Palmyra and our band boosters. Students should have ordered their meals on the google form I sent out a few weeks ago. The exhibition will start at 6:00pm and end around 9:00pm. Tickets are $7/adults and $3/students & senior citizens. Concessions, Farm Show Milkshakes, and candy grams for your band member will be available for purchase. If you ordered a shirt for the exhibition, they will be distributed that night to each band director and I will distribute when we get back to the school. The link to order shirts is HERE. All bands will end the exhibition on the field playing their favorite stands tunes.

As you are aware, due to the ongoing construction at the high school, this year the "spring" musical will be held in December. We are thrilled to be presenting Irving Berlin's "White Christmas!" Auditions have taken place this week, cast list is coming out on Friday, and the students in chorus and band are all signed up for many different aspects of the production.

On Tuesday, October 10, we will be having an extremely important parent meeting. The meeting will be held at 6pm in the high school auditorium and will last about a half hour. This informative meeting is crucial to understanding the process of the production this year and will allow parent the opportunity to ask questions, meet the directing team, and sign up for all aspects of the show. Please use door #27 (near the band trailer) to enter.

The students are already in "show mode" and we look forward to seeing you on Tuesday!

Drumline rehearsals will continue on Thursday nights from 6:30pm-8:30pm throughout the season.
