Boomerang Youth Recognition Award
The Boomerang Youth Recognition Award is a district-wide monthly program which recognizes and honors youth in our community for exemplifying a chosen Developmental Assets®.
Each year, more than 800 elementary, middle, and high school students from Central Bucks School District are nominated for the Boomerang Award. District winners serve as a model to all students in the district, receive school recognition, and are announced in the Bucks County Herald and the Backpack Newsflash.
Do you know a child who is actively engaged in learning? Then, consider nominating that student for the October award, Asset #22: School Engagement.
Anyone can nominate a CBSD student for a Boomerang Youth Recognition Award. Complete the nomination form and send it to Liz Meier, our student support counselor, by October 25th.
Walker Dismissal
If your child is in kindergarten or 1st grade and is a walker, please walk up to our school property and meet your child on the sidewalk. This will ensure that our younger students are walking home with an adult. If your child is not walking home with a parent, please email your child's teacher with the name of the adult that they will be meeting. Thank you!
Seating on Buses
Please have a conversation with your children about sitting with one another. Thank you!
Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week takes place every year in October. As a district, we will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week during the week of October 25, 2021. Alcohol, Tobacco, and other Drug lessons will be instructed to all students in grades K-6 by the classroom teacher during this week. Please look for more information in an email soon!
Clothing Request from the Health Office
On occasion a student will fall in a puddle, spill something at lunch, or have a similar accident. When this occurs, the Health Office happily provides the child with a change of clothes. Currently, we are in need of clothing for older students. Please consider donating gently used/new clothing including:
- Athletic shorts size 12-14
- Leggings size 12-14
Thank you for your generosity!
A Second Lunch Option
Students are entitled to ONE reimbursable breakfast and ONE reimbursable lunch per day. If a child is interested in receiving a second entrée, then the student's lunch account will be charged.
Families may want to put money in their child's account through MySchoolBucks.com as there will be no cash transactions this year in an effort to serve the students as safely and swiftly as possible.
Attendance
Information regarding how to use the Parent Portal to report an absence can be found here.
All attendance questions can be directed to Christine Stevens, cstevens@cbsd.org, in the Gayman Office.

Crushing Stigma – Building Mental Strength for Life
The Central Bucks School District and NAMI Bucks County PA are pleased to partner together to offer this program to our community. The event is open to students, adults, and families, and free childcare will be provided for all or a portion of the event as needed. Register for event updates and childcare at www.CBSD.org/crushingstigma_register.
CBSD Farmers Market Reopens
Any Central Bucks family who may need a little extra food assistance is welcome to join us on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of every month at Barclay Elementary School. Our drive-up food distributions run from 4:30 to 5:30 PM. We generally have free dry goods, fresh produce, milk, eggs, and bread, and often have some frozen meat and poultry. By our estimates, 1,500 CB children may experience temporary or chronic food insecurity—a statistic which should not exist in a community with our resources.
Our completely volunteer-run and managed organization was founded on two beliefs: 1) During times of need, which we all experience in one form or another, we should be able to count on the compassion and support of our neighbors; and 2) Our community’s collective commitment to our children is a bond much stronger than all of the other forces that might otherwise divide us.
If you have any questions about the market, please email jbrereton@cbsd.org or mamcdonald@cbsd.org.
