Texas Color Guard Competition Fundraiser in March
For the last three years JHS Band has hosted the Texas Color Guard Circuit (TCGC) Regional Championship, and it has been one of our most successful fundraisers. As you may recall from the fall, we need this one to be a success too as it is needed to recoup funds budgeted towards Grand Nationals. Please join us to help ensure it is a success!
Please help the Jaguar Band Organization successfully host the Texas Color Guard Circuit - Cadet, Novice, SJVRA Championships competition on Saturday, March 18! Color Guards from across the area will be competing at Johnson High School. Sign up here and help us make a great impression!
Please note that because TCGC will not finalize the schedule until closer to the event, TIMES ARE SUBJECT TO SOME CHANGE.
Set up on Friday night is open to students and adults. This sign-up for the day of the event is for adult volunteers. There will be limited opportunities for students to volunteer. Students will be contacted separately after approval from directors. Thanks in advance for the contribution of your time!

Concert Uniform Seamstress
If you are looking for a seamstress who can hem the band concert dresses, we have a one who is willing to hem them at a cost of $20. The seamstress will be at the Band Hall Saturday, February 4, at 10:00 a.m. to take payment for the hemming and to collect the dresses.
Please be aware that this arrangement would be between you and the seamstress, and the Band Boosters are not responsible for the services provided.
Parent Volunteers Needed for Pre-UIL & UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Contest in MARCH
The JHS Band will be hosting High School Pre-UIL Concert & Sight-Reading at the PAC on Wednesday, March 1 and Thursday, March 2 and UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Competition at the PAC on Tuesday, March 28 and Wednesday, March 29.
Mr. Lucita has asked for a few volunteers to help throughout the day to set up the stage, help in the warm-up and sightreading rooms. Occasionally, they will need one volunteer to help Tracye in the UIL office at the PAC.
Please know that times may change, and Mr. Lucita will update as soon as he has the information.

From the Director
The process of welcoming our new members and parents is beginning already. This week on Tuesday and Thursday we have scheduled new member meetings for rising 8th grade future Jaguar Band members and their parents. On Tuesday we will meet at McCormick MS at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria to welcome our MMS 8th grade parents and students. On Thursday we will meet at Dahlstrom MS at 6 p.m. in the new Band Hall to welcome our DMS 8th grade parents and students. These meetings are designed to provide those students and parents information about what to expect as a Johnson Jaguar Band Member!! We will also be able to answer any and all questions that those parents or students may have. If you have a rising 8th grade band member, know other family members that may have one, or have any friends who have a rising 8th grade band member, please encourage them to attend this important meeting. We are excited to get to meet the future Jaguar parents and students. If the scheduled campus meeting date is a conflict for any, they may attend the other scheduled meeting as the information is the same.
This Monday the Johnson HS Performing Arts Department (Band, Choir, Dance and Theatre) will be traveling to the Hays CISD PAC to see and hear the Austin Symphony Orchestra. The Jaguar Band has two students performing with the ASO in this concert: Andrea Rey on Clarinet and Nathan Mugan on Bass Trombone. The Performing Arts Department students will leave JHS, via school bus, at 10 a.m. and will return in time for B Lunch and to attend 3rd period. We are excited to get to hear this World Class organization perform and to have two of our very own students performing with them.
Important Fund Raiser approaching!! We will be hosting a Mattress Fundraiser at the end of February! That’s right, a Mattress Fundraiser! It is the exact same as buying name brand mattresses from any of the local stores; however, this is designed to provide funding back to local organizations instead of paying rent and overhead for a brick and mortar building. Same name brand product, same warranties, same financing and same delivery! There will be a zoom meeting scheduled for all with the link being sent to band member and parents so everyone understands how this fundraiser works and what they need to do to help make it a great success. Don’t worry; it does not involve door-to-door sales!!! LOL We try very hard to only hold fundraisers that provide the greatest financial support to our program with the least amount of additional responsibilities or inconveniences to our students and parents. However, we must have involvement by our parents and students for any fundraiser to be successful. We will push out the zoom link and date as soon as it is scheduled by the Custom Fundraising Solutions (CFS) . Additional information will also be shared through social media, email and signage! I know it is unconventional, but it a great product that is supporting a great cause. Besides, we all typically have multiple beds in our home and every few years we need to purchase a new mattress for one of those beds. You can now do that and support the band at the same time!
Let’s have another great week and as we always sign off: “It’s A Great Day To Be A Jaguar”
