We’re launching a new parent communication tool
Get ready for lift off!
The district is launching ParentSquare, a new parent communication tool for robocalls, emails, text messages and more. Later this summer, check your mailbox for detailed information, along with step-by-step instructions for how to register your account. Invitations to register your account will come by email and/or text message. We'll give you a heads up closer to when you'll receive these information pieces.
ParentSquare will greatly enhance and streamline family communication. Look forward to these key features:

BLHS, SHS FCCLA take home wins from nationals
Congratulations to the Sumner High School and Bonney Lake High School Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) teams, who competed in the National Leadership Conference in Denver this month. Students landed their projects in the top 25 spots in the nation, with some getting in the top five! Project topics included hospitality, early childhood education, instructional video design, national programs in action and sustainability.

Tehaleh family wins ‘After School for Life’ national sweepstakes
Congratulations to the Flood Family, who won the grand prize in Right At School's “After School for Life” sweepstakes! With incoming kindergartener Rory beginning his school career this fall at Tehaleh Heights Elementary, Right at School will cover 100 percent of his program tuition for the next six years. This lucky Tehaleh family won the prize among more than 3,100 entrants nationwide.

This fall is the first year that SBLSD is partnering with Right At School, a nationally-recognized school enrichment provider for before- and after-school care, to offer services at all of our elementary schools and the Sumner Early Learning Center.

Free lunches, food packs at Daffodil Valley Elementary
Not only can you find free lunches for kids 18 and under at Daffodil Valley Elementary this summer, but on Thursdays, Sumner librarian Carol is there to share summer reading materials! Families can also take home a food pack from the Sumner Community Food Bank on Thursdays.
Free lunches are available from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday through Aug. 17. See details at sumnersd.org/summermeals.
Calendars coming to mailboxes in August
Watch your mailbox in August for the District’s annual calendar mailing. The convenient fold-out format will feature key dates and important information to refer to throughout the year, such as inclement weather and safety procedures, school schedules, useful phone numbers and more.

Families of Sumner-Bonney Lake students in need may pick up school supplies, such as backpacks, pens, pencils, crayons, notebooks, binders, and more at these grab-and-go events in August:

Remember to vote: Primary election, Aug. 1
You’ve likely already received the Pierce County voters’ pamphlet for the primary election, which includes two open positions for SBLSD school board. Your ballot should arrive July 15-19.
The ballot return deadline is 8 p.m. on Aug. 1. Our area’s ballot drop-box locations are at the Sumner Library (1116 Fryer Ave) and Bonney Lake Park & Ride (Sky Island Dr E & 184th Ave).
Are you registered to vote? In order to vote in next month’s primary election, register online or by mail by July 24.

Among the list of Sumner’s Music off Main series is Sumner High School 2020 grad Amelia Day & The Cloves, who will perform on July 29 at 6:30 at Loyalty Park. View more Sumner events.

Free dental screenings for youth
Youth ages 0-20 can receive free dental screenings, fluoride and sealants in upcoming Free Kids Dental Day events this summer at Sumner Community Food Bank, sponsored by the Pierce County Local Impact Network. Keep those teeth cavity-free!
