This Is How We Lakeview
July 2023 Edition: Volume 4
Latest Updates
This Friday is our first Club Day of the year. Students will have the opportunity to select their clubs this week. For our students and families who were not at Lakeview last year, our monthly Club Day is a time for students engage with a club of their choosing. We take our normal 50-minute PAW Time/E&I period and make it a 50-minute club session. In the past, students have been able to choose from Architecture/LEGOs, Board Games, Cars, Cartoons, Drawing, Gaming, Gardening, Photography, Sign Language, among many more options.
We offer this monthly Club Day because we know that many of our students can't stay after school for the after-school clubs that we offer, so we want to make sure they have a chance to engage with student interest-based clubs.
Make sure you check out next Friday's newsletter for pictures from our club day!

Student Costume Day
In the spirit of Halloween and Trick or Treat, students will be allowed to wear their costumes next Tuesday, October 31st. Costumes must be school appropriate (follow dress code), and students are not allowed to wear face paint or masks.
For further guidance on appropriateness, ask these questions:
1. Is my costume supposed to be funny? Is the humor based on making fun of real people, human traits or cultures?
2. Does my costume represent a culture that is not my own?
3. Does my costume reduce cultural differences to jokes or stereotypes?
4. Does my costume packaging include the words "traditional," "ethnic," "colonial, " "cultural," "authentic," or "tribal"?
5. Does my costume perpetuate stereotypes, misinformation, or historical and cultural inaccuracies?
6. Would I be embarrassed or ashamed if someone from the group I'm portraying saw me wearing this?
If you have any concerns about your student's costume, please feel free to contact the Main Office at 614-830-2200.
October Lakeview Values Winners
Congratulations to our students who were identified by our staff already this month for upholding our Lakeview Values, by respecting self, others, school, and learning.
Pickerington Education Foundation Tree Auction
On November 4th, the Pickerington Education Foundation will hold its annual fundraising event to provide grants to Pickerington teachers and their buildings. For the event, each school's PTO creates a tree that is part of a silent auction. Lakeview's tree theme this year is "Ohio State Buckeyes." PTO is collecting donations to add to the tree, including gift cards and games. Please visit the link below if you would like to donate.
A big thank you to our families who have already donated!
