Good afternoon Holly Ridge Middle School Families,
Greetings from your principal, Jennifer Newby.
We would like to thank our community for partnering with Holly Grove Middle School this week to donate 20 pounds of nonperishable food items to our Holly Springs Food Cupboard. We greatly appreciate the donations!
Wednesday, October 18th, we encourage everyone to wear Orange for Bullying Prevention Month (Unity Day).
Attention 7th and 8th grade families:
Basketball Tryouts will begin on Wednesday, November 15th.

Holly Ridge Middle School is setting sail on Tropical Tides!
Our first school dance will take place this Friday, October 20th from 3:30PM to 5:30PM. Admission is free and all grades are welcome to attend. There will be snacks, drinks, and pizza available for purchase. Pizza will be $3 and snacks/drinks will be $1-$2. Dance permission slips must be turned in to 6th period teachers by October 19th. For dance logistics and parent pickup information, please carefully review the linked permission slip. The permission slip will be passed out to your child on Monday, October 16th.

PTA Happenings:
Our Coin War is on! Students can add points for their team by donating pennies and bills. Sabotage other teams with any silver coins! You can help with an online donation here. Every dollar counts! Team and grade level prizes will be awarded!
This is our major fall fundraiser which will fund dances, cultural arts assemblies, teacher grants and much more. We need to reach our $15,000 goal to fund these important PTA programs. Please consider a donation.

Attention Seventh Grade Parents
The week of Oct. 23rd - 29th 7th grade students will be receiving the Signs of Suicide Program during their 3rd elective period. This is a required lesson given to all 7th graders in Wake County. Please see the links below with the parent letter with an opt out permission form as well as the Brief Screening for Adolescent Depression.
We will also be sending home a paper copy through homeroom on Tuesday, Oct. 3rd.

October is Bullying Prevention Month
Bullying Prevention Poster Contest
Calling all Students!!!
- Design a poster related to Bullying Prevention Month and inclusion. Be creative and colorful. The Theme is Stand Up, Speak Out. The deadline is Friday, Oct. 20th. Winners will be announced Oct. 27th. Grade level winner's artwork will be displayed in the yearbook and each student will receive a prize. Posters should be submitted to Student Services (rm 200) by the deadline.
It’s Book Fair Time! Our book fair will be October 13-20th in the media center. Here is the access to the live link for the book fair website. The Digital Flyer may be accessed here.
In order to make our book fair a success, we need your help! If you are interested in volunteering to help with the book fair, please complete this Google Form. Our media specialist, Ms. Brown will be in contact with you. All volunteers must complete the WCPSS volunteer registration process. You can access the link here.
