Well done, Wildcats!

With the assistance of the Homewood Police, we had our Code Red drill this morning. Our students did great! When walking the halls and checking doors, we couldn't hear any of them! Thank you to those of you who helped prep them for this important safety drill.

Halloween

We have out annual parade on Monday, if the weather cooperates. Your Wildcat should wear his/her/their costume to school and be here at the regular 8:00 AM time. If the parade is a go, you are welcome to watch it from either side of the sidewalk. We will get started at 8:30 AM. Please do not photograph anyone other than your own child(ren) to share on social media. Your students should also have a change of clothes to be able to get through the rest of the day's learning. We have a full day of school on the 31st.

Remember, per District policy, no outside food can be sent in to be shared with the class.

Thank you to the PTA room volunteers who are handling the games and crafts. WE appreciate you!

Food Drive

Our annual food drive starts next Monday and runs through November 16th. Our food baskets go directly to local families. Please see the flier below with our requested contributions.

Paw Pact

During the summer, many of the staff attend professional development opportunities. One of those is Professional Learning Communities or PLC. A professional learning community (PLC) is a team of educators who share ideas to enhance their teaching practice and create a learning environment where all students can reach their fullest potential.

PLCs allow teachers an easy way to share best practices and brainstorm innovative ways to improve learning and drive student achievement. The very essence of a PLC is a focus on and a commitment to student learning. Meeting weekly creates a bond and builds a team of leaders within the school or district that eventually extends regionally and globally. Learning from others in your PLC allows you to reflect on ways to enhance your teaching and to adjust your practice. The more minds that come together from different backgrounds, the more likely you are to add value and purpose to the field of education.

One of the points we learned this summer was the importance of everyone ( staff students and parents) knowing the expectations. To accomplish this, we have created the PAW PACT. It clearly states what each of us need to do to enable the growth of all students.

A sample of the document is below. A paper copy will come home early next week. After you go over it, please have your child sign and add your own signature. When your child returns the form, he/she/they get a special WOW worth 10 points to use on the WOW cart.

Clubs for 1st and 2nd graders

They are back! We will start after school clubs for our 1st and 2nd graders on November 9th.

We will have two separate sessions:

November 9 - January 18

February 15-April 19

Your Wildcat may attend 1 club throughout the year so that as many students as possible have an opportunity. Please read the directions carefully on the Sign Up Genius link.
