Message from Crocker Principal
February and March have been filled with learning opportunities for our students. In classrooms, students are engaged in their learning. Our educators facilitate learning which connects subject matter to real-life contexts. I have enjoyed observing engaging instructional methods, such as group work, science investigations on biodiversity, and Socratic seminars. Keep up the great work, Vikings!
Our Viking spirit shone at our Chinese New Year Celebration. Thank you, parent volunteers, and Mandarin teacher Ms. Shaw-Yu. The learning continued for our 7th graders at an interactive Korean Cultural Assembly. Thanks to the effort of Ms. Audrey Fairchild and the Korean Education Center of San Franciso. Last week, our 8th-grade DREAM Leaders interviewed over 100 aspiring 7th Grade DREAM leaders. Counselor Bonnie Slater's Developing Empathic and Responsible Adolescent Mentors program is going strong! Finally, we headed into the weekend with the entire school participating in the Intercultural Food Festival, IIF, led by teacher Michelle Bowie. IIF food booths were creatively designed and expertly run by students for students. The energy and entrepreneurial spirit were exciting and refreshing!
I am proud to share that Crocker is a community that has worked hard during the pandemic to provide a safe and healthy place to learn and be together. We have been successful because we respect ourselves, each other, and our community. All Crocker Vikings should respect each person's personal preference as we navigate the four levels of masking. In the strongly recommended phase, CDPH recommends that everyone wear a mask indoors, but it is not required. During the "strongly recommended" phase, HCSD would like families to consider having students wear masks indoors during music classes. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Principal Brady or Assistant Principal Miller.
Finally, a huge thank you to Assistant Principal Dave Miller for all of his coordination and planning efforts for our upcoming 7th and 8th Grade National Parks Trip. Our 7th graders set sail on Monday, March 21, for an exciting travel week. Additionally, our 7th graders remaining on campus will have a fun-filled week of adventure with day trips organized by our 7th-grade teachers!
Go Vikings!
