DECEMBER 6, 2023 - NEWSLETTER
SLPHS families,
Welcome to Trimester 2. We kicked off the new trimester yesterday with students. It was great to reengage in the learning process with all of our learners. I am excited for all that the upcoming trimester offers. In addition to learning in our classrooms and community, I look forward to athletic events like our first home basketball game this Friday to the instrumental music concerts next week to parent and community events coming up.
This week, in particular, is full of events for families and the SLP community:
- Tomorrow, Thursday, December 7, high school students and their families are invited to the Find Your Future event, 6-8 p.m. There’s a full roster of sessions and presenters with a focus on college and career exploration. Please check out the information below and sign up. I look forward to seeing you here.
- Also on Thursday, Live on 65 kicks off the winter celebrations with After Hours Big Band at 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center. It’s an all-ages show featuring SLP dad Michael Pearson. The band will be joined by special guest Reed Grimm from season 11 of American Idol. It’s not too late to get tickets.
- Saturday is the Winter Market, 10 a.m.-noon (door 29). This is always a fun event for all ages.
We are proud that more than 80 percent of our student body are involved in our athletic, arts, activities and student-interest clubs throughout the school year. I would love to see at least 80 percent of the SLP Schools community participating in at least one of these events this week! That would be awesome and truly make us one school, one community, #SLPPantherProud!
Thank you as always for your ongoing partnership.
