Parent Teacher Conferences: Tomorrow, October 17
Parent Teacher Conferences are tomorrow, Tuesday, October 17. Virtual conferences from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and in-person, on campus conferences from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Registration for virtual conferences closes on Tuesday, October 17, at 8 a.m.

East Leyden launches clothing drive
Recently, the East Leyden Tapestry started the “Leyden Locker,” a place where students who may need assistance with clothing or household items could come and “shop” for items at no cost. Now, Tapestry is partnering with the Student Advisory Council to expand the service to a “Leyden Closet.”
Make A Difference Day - October 28
The biggest day of community service at Leyden is coming! Make a Difference Day is the largest national day of community service in the United States and aims to inspire people to step up, take action, and make a positive difference in their communities. Leyden students celebrate this day by completing various service projects in our communities.
If you are a member of a community organization or business and would like student volunteers to help you with a special project (outdoor cleanup, indoor organization, etc) on Make a Difference Day, please email Lauren Giuseffi at LGiuseffi@Leyden212.org.
On Saturday, October 28, students and staff from East and West Leyden will join together to help our neighbors and blanket the community with Eagle kindness.
Schedule for the day:7:30 a.m. & 8:00 a.m. - Bus from West Leyden (Entrance 2) to East Leyden (Entrance 18)
8:00 a.m. - 8:45 a.m. - Pancake breakfast in East Leyden Cafeteria
8:45 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. - Bus to service projects
9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. - Service projects
11:30 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. - Bus back to East Leyden
11:45 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.: Pizza lunch in East Leyden Cafeteria
12:15 p.m.: Bus from East Leyden (Entrance 18) to West Leyden (Entrance 2)

Board Members recognized by IASB
Leyden High School Board members Greg Ignoffo and Lisa Anthony have been recognized by the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) for their participation in a number of professional development and leadership activities during their service as school board members.
IASB recognizes school board members for their dedication and desire to learn more about school governance, adding to their leadership skills, knowledge of state and national educational issues and commitment to serving their community and students.
We congratulate Greg and Lisa and thank them for all they do for our community and our school district!
Boys Soccer win West Suburban Conference
Leyden Varsity Eagles won the West Suburban Conference after winning against Downers Grove South on October 10. Congratulations champions! Tuesday, October 17, the team competes in the IHSA Boys Soccer Regional on the East Leyden turf starting at 6:00 p.m.
Come out and support the team! Go Eagles!
Operation Snowball attend NAMI Walk Chicago
West Leyden Operation Snowball attended the Annual NAMI Walk Chicago last weekend. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) provides advocacy, education, support and public awareness so that all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives. By participating in the walk we show that Leyden cares.

Need Food? The Northern Illinois Food Bank is here to help. They work with over 900 food pantries, mobile food truck markets, and soup kitchens who distribute perishable and non perishable foods that you can choose from based on your dietary needs. Find one local to you.

Important Medicaid Information. If you have Medicaid, get ready to renew. People receiving Medicaid need to go through the Medicaid Redetermination process. This process has been on hold during the pandemic, but it’s back in 2023. That means you must complete your renewal to continue to receive Medicaid benefits.
