Spring Concert 2019
Spring Concert
Performing Arts teacher Ms. Haver, coordinated another amazing Spring Concert on Wednesday night. The evening began in the gym with performances from the instrumental students and Show Choir. A few of the students were honored for their performances at this year's Solo and Ensemble festivals:
Margaret Canseco earned a 1 at both the Regional and State festivals for a trumpet solo.
Jordyn Crews earned a 2 at the Regional festival for a saxophone solo.
Jordan Herbert earned a 3 at the Regional festival for a clarinet solo.
Jordyn and Jordan also performed together in a woodwind duet and earned a 1 at both the Regional and State festivals!
Thank you to Ms. Haver for helping all of her students entertain us and perform with finesse!

Spring Art Show
Spring Art Show
On May 29th, after the spring concert, families were invited to attend the Spring Art Show. Over 150 works of art were on display from Mrs. Henson's beginning and advanced art classes, middle school art classes and the graphic arts class. Mr. Harston and his woodshop classes graciously constructed new display panels to showcase student work. Students shared their talents in a variety of media including watercolors, acrylics, colored pencil, graphite, pastels, and tempera paints. Desserts were expertly crafted by the PHS Culinary Arts Department and Chef Robin Adrian-Murray and were a work of art in themselves. Mrs. Henson was beyond proud of her student's work and thankful for all the support from Mrs. Harston, Mr. Harston, Mrs. Adrian-Murray and all the staff at PHS. We are already looking forward to next year's show!

7th Graders Learn Archery
National Archery in the Schools (NASP) lessons
The students would not have had this opportunity without the support, especially the financial contributions from the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation; Plumas County Fish & Game Commission; Portola resident, Tom Rose; Feather River Archery Club; and Sierra Valley Gun Club, and Mr. Valle himself! Also, further support is being sought to purchase more left-handed bows and 3D Targets.
Practice, practice, practice.

National Archery in the Schools (NASP)
Above and Beyond
Above and Beyond Each week, we would like to acknowledge staff members and supporters who go above and beyond their call of duty for PJSHS. Please help us appreciate Mrs. Henson and Ms. Haver for bringing a fine evening of the Arts to us this week. It was evident of the time and effort that was given to make the event as special as it was!
