After School Update From Ms. Green
Hi Rio Families,
The first week of school was a huge success! Students seem both at home and excited on campus and are enjoying getting to know their classmates and teachers. Our music program is up and running with general music for K-5th and band for 6th.
Our After School Program is also off to a great start and I have good news to share! We are able to open the After School Program at Rio to all students who registered before 8/19/22 starting this Monday, August 22nd. Here is the list of students registered (Tabs by grade level are at the bottom of the document). Registration is still open using this link but due to safety and staffing, students who register after 8/19 are currently on our new waitlist.
In order to grow this program, we do have a few requests to increase student safety. We ask that parents pick up their children during the following times:
- Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays: 3:30-3:45 or dismissal at 4:30
- Wednesdays 1:15pm-1:30pm or 2:10 at dismissal
- Please remember we only have after school for our kindergartners on Fridays and it ends at 2:15. No after school on Fridays for 1st-6th.
Rio Rock Band Tryouts will be mid September and piano class is also coming at that time.
Looking forward to another fabulous week.

Parent Alliance Update
Hi everybody. I'm Laura Mottram, the new president of the Rio Del Mar Parent Alliance. I'm excited to be taking on this role at a time when things are getting, somewhat, back to normal, and am looking forward to the return of some of our popular community events, including Movie Night (9/16) and Harvest Festival (10/21).
Our first Parent Alliance Meeting of the year is this coming Thursday, 9/25 at 6:30-8:00pm. Join us online to discover all the things we have planned, and to have your say. Use this link to join the meeting. And check out the agenda here.
This summer, we created a new website for the Parent Alliance at rdmpa.org. It's full of information on what we do and what programs we fund, as well as being the place to sign up to volunteer, buy Spirit Wear, donate and find the latest Rio news.
I'd love to hear what you think about the website, and also your ideas on what RDMPA can do to best enrich our students’ educational experience. Email me at rio.pa.president@gmail.com or catch me at Back to School Night (9/8). Thanks, and I hope to meet you soon. Laura
2022-2023 Direct Ask
This year, our Direct Ask to families remains an annual donation of $250 per student. However, we recognize times are challenging, and encourage families to give what they can.
To donate, please return to school the purple form that was in your child's packets along with a check. Or you can set up one-off or monthly donations at rdmpa.org/donate. Thank you for your support.

VOLUNTEER for rio
You can view the many volunteering opportunities with the Parent Alliance on our website at rdmpa.org/volunteer. At the moment, we are looking for a new Spirit Wear Coordinator. It's a fun way to meet people and doesn't require a huge time commitment. Find out more here.
Our Room Parent Coordinator, Jaime Comilang, is collecting names of people who would like to be Room Parents this year. See what's involved and sign up here.
In order to volunteer on campus you must complete a Volunteer Form, TB Test and provide COVID vaccination information. Follow this link for information on volunteer registration.
