Spring Parent/Teacher Conferences Feb. 29, 2024
We have a limited number of conference time slots in the Spring. Unlike the Fall, when we try to meet with every parent, Spring conferences are by teacher invitation. If your teacher feels a conference is necessary at this time, they will reach out this week to schedule a conference to be held between 1pm and 8pm on Feb. 29, 2024. If you receive a request to meet, please respond as soon as possible, so we can determine which if any conferences are still available for others.
On Friday, 2/23, we will open any remaining conferences to all parents. Anyone is welcome to take one of the remaining appointments if you would like to meet with your child's teacher.
If you have concerns and want to ensure a conference time, please email your child's teacher this week.
Conferences are scheduled through ParentVue starting Friday, just like in the Fall.
Thank you!

Best Practices for Chromebooks per our Tech Department:
Please make sure students are turning off their Chromebooks when they are finished (not just shutting the lid). If not completely shut down the following occurs:
- Drains the battery very quickly
- Can be problematic when switching networks from home to school and back.
Happy Reading!

Patterson Physical Education Update!
Hello Patterson families! This is Ms. Sparlin, I have been thoroughly enjoying my student teaching experience in PE. Our students have been excelling in our basketball unit over the past two weeks, working hard on their fundamental skills in preparation for some exciting games next week! Coming up, we're diving into volleyball, followed by an exciting partnership with the SNAG Kids Golf Foundation, who will be providing wonderful golf equipment for our unit! On March 12th we will also be lucky enough to have a representative from Speed Stacking coming in to teach a day of cup stacking! Families will have an opportunity to buy a set of cups for home if they are interested! Looking further ahead, just a reminder students will be roller skating in PE this April, which includes a $10 fee. Keep an eye out for more information being sent out the first week in March on how to pay the fee and to turn in skate sizes. There is so much happening in PE!

CAREER EXPLORATION ACADEMY DAY - Parents, We need you to teach our students about your career!
Career Exploration Academy Day (Previously known as Patterson’s STEAM Day) is returning to Patterson on Friday, April 19th, 2024 during the school day! We Can't Wait!
This day is an exciting in-school opportunity for all K-5 students to learn from Patterson parents, IPSD 204 staff, and local volunteers who are excited to share about their careers in a hands-on, smaller class format. See below for pictures from 2020!
If you are a parent involved in a field that could correspond with Patterson’s World of Work connection, and are interested in teaching a session to the students during Career Exploration Academy Day, or would like to know more about how the day works, want to help, but need a class idea, etc., we would love to hear from you!
As a parent instructor, you have the opportunity to teach up to three sessions throughout the day. This makes for great hands-on learning opportunities for each student. There will be one session for students in grades K-1 (45 minutes), one session for students in grades 2-3 (60 minutes), and one session for students in grades 4-5 (60 minutes).
All Patterson students will be choosing one Career Exploration Academy session to attend, please check back to upcoming s’mores for information regarding session descriptions and sign ups that will be offered for each grade level.
If you are interested in preparing and teaching a class, but curious about what careers may correspond to the World of Work initiative, check out the graphic below. Of course, careers are not limited to those specifically listed!
The Career Exploration Academy website will be updated soon. Check back for updates at: https://sites.google.com/ipsd.org/patterson-pta/special-events/career-exploration-day?authuser=0
Contact Carrie Giacobbe at pattersoncea@gmail.com if you are interested in being a parent instructor or if you would like further information.
