Wiggin Street Parent Update

Dear Wiggin Street Families,

We have had so much fun this week with all our students. The week before break takes a lot of preparation and energy for the staff, but there are so many wonderful memories created. We hope you enjoy the pictures and videos in this update.

We are happy to announce that Richard Cowdrey has rescheduled his visit for January 27th.

Our Wiggin Street Family wish you all a healthy and happy holiday break, and we look forward to seeing our students when they return on January 3rd!

After investigating physical and behavioral adaptations, students designed a Nonfiction text to share with the younger grades at a Virtual Zoo.

Mrs. Pam Rose, Director of Student Services, attended the concert and took some amazing pictures and video that can be found here.

Students celebrated the Iceland tradition of Jólabókaflóð (Icelandic Book Flood) this week. In Iceland, books are exchanged on Christmas Eve, and people spend the rest of the night reading. They take their books to bed along with some chocolate.

After learning about how people from other countries celebrate holidays based on their culture, students joined together in an international feast. They enjoyed foods from Israel, Sweden, Mexico, the Netherlands, Africa, Germany, Italy, and France.

First and Second grade students built a structure to keep Rudolph from escaping.

The Kindergarten Gingerbread Man Play looked a little different this year. The students wanted to design their own set, so the project began! They did an amazing job last night!

Please remember that students will go outside on days where the temperature with wind chill accounted for is 20°f and above. Be sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather each day. Coats, hats, and gloves are necessary at this time of the year. Boots are required for playing in the snow. If you need assistance with winter outerwear for your child, please contact our school, and we will happily find warm clothes for them.

For pick up, please do not arrive until 3:30. There is no stopping, standing, or parking on E. Brooklyn St. allowed. Also, please reminder that our school is an Idle-free Zone. Protect our children and the community by turning off your engine.
