Distribution of New Student Passwords on February 1
As indicated in the December 1, 2022 Superintendent email communication "San Diego Unified Incident", District IT will be resetting passwords as a precaution due to a system breach. Different schools have different reset dates. The reset for Mt. Everest Academy is due to occur the evening of Tuesday, January 31. Students may not have access to their school accounts after 8pm on Jan. 31 and should make appropriate plans for schoolwork, if needed.
New student passwords will not be accessible to staff for distribution until the morning of Wednesday, Feb. 1. The parent email currently on file will receive a message on the morning of Feb. 1 that includes the new password. The password is confidential and unique to each individual student. If you have multiple children attending MEA, you will receive a separate email for each student. Usernames/ID numbers will not change. Please check your email inbox after 8 am on February 1 and share the password with your student(s) when received.
Students attending class(es) the morning of Feb. 1 can also receive their passwords from their teachers. You may also stop by the office to obtain the password after the morning of February 1. We cannot give password information over the phone.
For technical support, call the Online Learning Technical Support Line at (619) 732-1400.
Hours of operation are 8 am - 4 pm, Monday - Friday.
Note: Many issues with Chromebooks can be resolved by restarting the device. Students and parents can refer to the resources provided on this page for easy to follow steps to resolve a majority of issues not related to damage.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the MEA office.
Thank you for your continued support.
Announcements
New Students
We have a bunch of new students enrolling at Mt. Everest Academy for the new semester. If you see a new face on campus, please extend them a warm welcome.
Your Input Needed
It’s that time of year where we begin to plan our budget for next school year and we need your input! Parents, please complete this survey by Feb. 3 so that we can incorporate your ideas and recommendations to best support our MEA students. Thank you in advance!
Elementary Parents
This is an reminder to all elementary parents, that for your children's safety, when they are not in class, they must be supervised by you or another parent that you have designated. As a courtesy, we are providing lunch supervision on days where we offer an extracurricular after lunch. If you would like to have your student participate in supervised lunch, you must sign them up on the class sign-in sheet. In the past, parents would pick their children up after class and join them for a picnic lunch before afternoon extracurriculars. You are always welcome to do that! Supervised lunch only began during Covid when parents were not allowed on campus. Due to parent input, we have continued lunch supervision on certain days, however, students must be signed up. Thank you for assisting us with this!
Hearing & Vision Screenings
Next week, the school's Health Office will be conducting Hearing and Vision Screenings for grades K, 2, 5, and 8. Parents of students in grades K, 2, 5, & 8 will be notified later this week with more specifics.
Middle School Art Elective
Middle School Art elective begins next Tuesday, January 24 at 1:50 PM in Ms. Battin's classroom (Room 12). All 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students are welcome to sign up. Please email Mr. Rubin to add the class.
MEA Spring Play Auditions
The time has come to audition for MEATCo's annual show! Our theater teacher, Becca Myers, has returned to oversee the production! Anyone K-12 is welcome to audition via this form. Email Theo Martien (theo@themartiens.com) with any questions.
Community College Students
Students taking 2nd semester community classes please send the following information NOW to kiwamoto@sandi.net :
PLEASE USE THIS FORMAT: (for each class)
- Your Name, Student ID #
- College Class title, section number and class ID number
- Class instructor’s name
- Urgent task for you: Email your instructor to request a Class Syllabus (look on the school website to find it) and forward the syllabus with your other information to kiwamoto@sandi.net (you may have to email them more than once, don’t give up!)
- Why? The syllabus will list the proper materials, ISBN… books or online information for your course which we will see if the district has available for you to use, or if they will be able to provide the materials.
Summer School
Enrollment will be OPEN to ALL current San Diego Unified students in grades UTK–12 starting February 6. Locations are throughout the district. SDUSD will soon send families information via text. The Level Up Enrichment (sponsored by the San Diego Foundation) registration is targeted to launch March 21, 2023. If you have any more questions, please go to Extended Learning Opportunities.
MakerSpace
Have you visited the MakerSpace lately? Need supplies for a school project, chances are we have them. Want to get crafty while taking a break from school work, we have stuff for that too. Need a break but not sure what you want to do, we have kits at the ready. Some of our kits include Rainbow Loom, Lace Making, Balloon Cars, Puzzles & Brain Teasers, Card Making, Potholder Loom, and more.
Don’t forget Valentine’s Day is coming soon and you can make cards in the MakerSpace!
We are open Tuesday through Thursday. Come explore MakerSpace! All students are welcome.
