CAFETERIA CONNECTION - FEBRUARY 2024
National School Breakfast Week (NSBW) - March 4-8
We will have special breakfast menus and
guest cooks in the kitchen March 4-8 to celebrate National School Breakfast Week - Stay Tuned!
Fun Fact:
Children who eat breakfast have improved moods and increased alertness throughout the morning. Children who eat a protein-rich breakfast report lower hunger for up to 4 hours. On average, students who participate in the School Breakfast Program eat a breakfast of higher nutritional quality than students who eat breakfast elsewhere.
We offer whole grain breakfast items every day that our students love! We also offer 100% juice and fruit with breakfast each morning along with cold Wisconsin milk. Students get their calorie needs met but we stay within the USDA requirements for fat and sodium. Kids need to start their morning ready to learn and they can’t do that without a proper breakfast. Remember that we have breakfast waiting at your child’s school every day!
On average, the SPASD serves 1200 breakfasts per day districtwide!
ACT Prep with Cindy & Kate:
All juniors are taking this wonderful workshop in order to best prepare them for the upcoming ACT test in March. We are working through practice tests for each section, and learning tips and tricks to make students successful and feeling confident in their skills to perform their best on the ACT. Scholars have been overwhelmingly engaged and are working on taking careful notes to best prepare themselves for academic and personal success!!!
Mass Extinctions and You!
Students taking the Mass Extinctions and You workshop will dive deeper into the 5 previous mass extinction events that have occurred on Earth as well as look at the impact of the “Anthropocene” era. We will research animals that have been driven to extinction and sharpen our basic Biology skills!
Student Services Updates
We have LOTS of gently used winter gear available for teen and adult sizes in the district. As it gets colder, please reach out if you need cold-weather clothing! 🧥 🧤 🏂
Let’s Talk: Juniors, you got next! Please schedule a meeting with Ms. Annetta, your friendly school counselor to talk about your dreams! The first step - complete the Junior Survey and receive an artifact: Juniors
