Stevenson Families,

October was a fabulous month at Stevenson! It was so great to see families at conferences to celebrate our scholars, with over 88% of families in attendance. We are so thankful for your partnership.

Our Fall Fun Run brought in over $12,000! Thank you for your support in raising dollars to buy each of our scholars Stevenson shirts, fund Springbrook experiences, help with field trip costs, and learning experiences.

The Fridley 2023-2024 focus is Transformational Learning and Believing. Within this, we:

• nurture a sense of belonging among our entire school community
• strive to ensure our scholars have access to high quality learning experiences, resources, information
• have opportunities that bring optimal growth and bring out talents

This is just a reminder as the cold weather is here, we go outside everyday unless the temperature with wind chill is below 0 degrees. Please send your child with the appropriate winter gear every day. Here is what we call the Frosty Five that are required to keep kids safe and warm.

3. Gloves
4. Snow Pants
5. Boots

After the snow falls, without boots students need to be on the sidewalk to avoid wet and super cold feet. If you need any help with warm gear, please contact our school social worker, Cait Ostman, at 763-502-5310.

materials in the Stevenson Steam.

Mention the fundraiser at the register or put "fundraiser" in the special instructions section of your mobile order and Cane's will donate 15% of sales to R.L. Stevenson Elementary. Proceeds will support our Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports where we celebrate students for showing great character traits.

Your school is participating in the Minnesota School Sealant Program, where students receive free or low cost dental services provided at school. Dental sealants and fluoride varnishes are often provided in a public health setting due to the amazing benefits they provide at a low cost.

The School Sealant Program not only provides dental care to children, but also increases learning opportunities. Instead of missing a few hours of school to go to a dental office, we can provide sealants in 15 minutes just down the hall. By preventing cavities with sealants, kids will also avoid frequent tooth pain that can be a huge distraction from learning.

These beautiful and warm mittens were donated to all 3rd grade scholars and all staff. We are so grateful!

The 7th annual Black & Gold Gala 2024 will be on January 25, 2024 at Jax Cafe from 5:30-9:00 p.m. Jax Cafe is at 1928 University Avenue NE Minneapolis, MN 55418.

The Fridley Schools Foundation awards educator innovation grants across the school district, provides post secondary scholarships to graduating seniors, and supports district initiatives.

Stevenson Elementary is now a drop off site through TerraCycle for juice pouches. Students can recycle theirs in the lunchroom and you can drop off juice pouches at the front office anytime! Our school does receive funds from TerraCycle based on how many we recycle. Please consider bringing us any Caprisun/KoolAid/Honest juice pouches.

Free breakfast is served 8:55 a.m. - 9:10 a.m.

School day starts at 9:10 a.m.

Campus Parent Portal is a required account for families to add money to your child's lunch account, apply for financial assistance, and access transportation information. You will also be using Parent Portal to update your phone number and any other personal information such as approved emergency contacts.

Hello Families-

If you have not completed the 2023-2024 Application for Educational Benefits, please complete the form through the Campus Parent Portal at https://fridleymn.infinitecampus.org/campus/portal/parents/fridley.jsp Families that are approved for free/reduced priced meals can receive additional benefits such as reduced park and rec fees, reduced internet fees and discounted metro bus passes. The completion of the form also helps fund important programs within the district including additional para support and teachers in the classroom. A new application should be completed each school year.

Did you know that all students can receive one breakfast and lunch each day at no charge? Breakfast is served in the classroom or hallway depending on the grade. We offer a variety of breakfast options during the week and students must take a ½ cup fruit at breakfast time. Lunch is served in the cafe. We offer one hot and one cold entree per day. There are many kid favorites including pizza, hamburgers on bun, school made mac and cheese and walking taco. In the coming months we will be introducing more cultural dishes to our students. If your child is bringing cold lunch, milk is not free of charge. We will ask students who want just a milk to come through the lunch line to take a reimburseable meal. All students must take a ½ cup fruit or vegetable at lunch time.

If you have an outstanding lunch balance from last year, please go to the Campus Parent Portal to pay off the amount owed. The outstanding lunch balances carry over from year to year. If you have any questions regarding Nutritional Services, please contact Renee Arbogast at 763-502-0022.
